amd vs pentium Comparisons?
 

Trying to find a site with different processor speeds. Heard you can find them online, but my searches are only bringing up comercial sales.

Anyone know any good sites for these? or how to find them?

in case anyones is wanting to know, looking for Intel Pentium D Processor 950 against the AMD Sempron Processor 3200+

It doesn't look like anandtech has charts like you might be looking for, but I am sure you will be able to find something on that site which can help you. :3

looks like the wiki stuff would of been useful if I wasn't so hardware illiterate.

Tomsharware, although it didn't have the exact one I was looking for, nor win speed, had a close enough model and had qualitative benchmarks which are easy enough to understood :3

Well, what is it that you need to know exactly between the two processors?

If you tell us that, we can easily explain what you need to know.

pentiums suck. that's all there is to it. they're better at encoding (except against a high-speed amd chip like the FX-62) and some other tasks, but overall athlon 64s will destroy them.

now... if you're talking about intel overall, there's this nice chip called "core 2 duo" that is the best chip out right now (assuming it's even accessable for the public... i don't know right now).

a good thing about amd, by the way, is that they cut prices MASSIVELY. these are reflected on newegg.com (2.4ghz 3800+ for ~110 bucks?? 3800+ dualcore (2.0ghz) for 169?????).

go here for some charts... look elsewhere for higher-end stuff (this is more budgety). anandtech has plenty of pentium-class vs. athlon charts. do a google search ( site:anandtech.com Pentium D ) or you could search for pentium 4 extreme or FX-62 if you want high-end stuff.

oh hey, i just realized you were looking for p-D vs. sempron 3200+. while i have no clue why you'd want to pit a midrange CPU versus a purely budget one, the pentium D 905 will probably beat the sempron 3200+ in most areas... i don't know about charts for those!

you can look at the "athlon 64 3000+" to get a good idea of how that might run, but it would be a bit slower than the 3000+ probably.

Was checking to see if the higher grade made _that_ much of a difference... and apparently it does. Couple different things are on sale right now, the Sempron comes with the box already, and is roughly the same price as the p-d, so didn't know they were that different. The sempron couldn't compare to the P-d on any of those benchmarks. But I don't want to spend 250 on a motherboard...

Though, theres also an AMD athlon 64 3800+ on sale(160), which by the benchmarks isn't that far behind the p-d, and actually beat it on one of the benchmarks. Its slower in almost all the benchmarks, but not by that much.

not sure which benchmarks you were looking at, but the ones at anandtech show the 3800+ wiping the floor with the pentium D in 95% of the tests.
