Mario Paint. Oh, um, on Wii!

hurray

This sounds, a little iffy (I'm not sure if this is true or if the site's creidble) but pretty cool. Reggi's "legal street art" comment's kinda funny. Also the hissing sound coming outta the wiimote's pretty neat. :) Can't wait to see the game in action. (provided this isn't a hoax)

guyinrubbersuit Jul 22, 2006 06:07 PM

I hope there will be more to the game than spraypainting. Bring back the animation and music editor!

Grawl Jul 22, 2006 06:08 PM

Now I really want a Wiii.

Krelian Jul 22, 2006 06:15 PM

I don't think this is real. :-/ The boxart is ostensibly made with basic photoshop filters and the description seems... Iffy. "We are almost done with the can shaking matrix. You will have to experience to believe it"... Hahahaha.

It's a beautiful idea, but I just don't think it's real. Holding the wiimote like a spray can sure would be sweet though.

Freelance Jul 22, 2006 07:08 PM

Aww nuts! I thought it was for the DS for a moment :(

I'd love to have it for the DS. Drawing with a stylus as opposed to a mouse is certainly quite appealing, and with the ability to send your drawings to other people wirelessly, it sure sounds like a dream come true.

Oh well, there's still hope, hopefully...

Paco Jul 22, 2006 07:29 PM

The pre-release roster keeps getting better and better. I'll keep an eye open for this.

PsychoJosh Jul 22, 2006 07:31 PM

This should be just an added software thing (you know, like Pictochat for the DS). Just to instantly see an example of the hardware's uses, as well as the ability to make your own avatar for your Wii when you get online.

That would be keen.

Mario Paint?! On Wii? I'm skeptical, the whole idea of Mario Paint would be best on DS, the touch screen carries so many possibilies. Frantically waving my hand around like a gangsta with Tourette's doesn't really appeal to me.

While I loved the game, I was the most un-creative kid I'd ever meet in my life, so most of my time was spent doing those color in templates.

And I always made sure Yoshi was green and Mario was red.

I'd totally laugh if the public starts claiming there's an increase of graffiti vandalism right after this game is released. With tags of Mario and shit.

So...why is it that Joe Nobody here has this awesome bit of front page news on his little review site, while none of the other much bigger and let's admit it, more capable gaming news sites have nothing at all?

Calling fake on this one myself. Fake fake fake, super fake.

PsychoJosh Jul 23, 2006 07:00 AM

Well no shit it's fake...

FatsDomino Jul 23, 2006 11:23 AM

Besides you couldn't hold the wii remote like a spray can and use it like a pointer at the same time. I guess you could put some sort of mirror attachment on top of the wii remote to make that possible but it would be pretty silly. .... Oh wait. Yeah you could. It detects movement in all directions regardless of pointer. Murr... I'd still like an better source. So yeah this is most likely fake.

However, I wouldn't throw a Mario Paint-like game out the window though. We are getting a Bob Ross painting game for Wii after all.

WolfDemon Jul 24, 2006 12:42 AM

Fake or not, if they bring back the Fly Swatter mini-game and have you flicking the Wiimote to kill those exploding bastard dragonflies, it wins 3, nay, 4 internets. And this animal cracker.

Yeah I agree, I would prefer a DS version also. Nevertheless, I'm still exticed about this. Mario Paint was a pretty crazy game that ate up weeks of my life. That fly swat game was the best.

Even if it is most likely fake. :(

Josh, that doesn't originate from 4chan. That's just general Internet developed lingo.

Bullshit, EVERYTHING originates from there.

I always loved Mario Paint. I only ever played with the music functionality, though, so I also hope it doesn't get scrapped. Hell, expand on it!

Nova108 Jul 24, 2006 03:17 PM

I agree with it being fake. But with Nintendo bringing back plenty of other old favorites, there's a very good chance a Mario Paint game will find its way to the Wii or even DS. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Now, please stop. Talk about Mario Paint or something. I dunno.

I've never even been to 4chan. ;_;

BucPride Jul 24, 2006 09:32 PM

If this is real, it's just another reason to get the Wii. Though I'm sure it isn't, I wouldn't doubt Nintendo takes a shot to revive this one from the SNES. Its too fun to let it get buried in history.

Infernal Monkey Jul 24, 2006 09:42 PM

This is completely fake, but man, a full blown sequel to Mario Paint on Wii would be so cool. Just imagine the fly swatting mini-game. =o IMAGINE! Being able to share our crap works of art online, bogging down the service with pictures of Mario on a toilet or snot shooting out of his nose all over a confused Toad. And we'd get all these new takes on the weird Mario Paint music. It'd be game of the year every single year. Forever.

Truth.

Until Heroes is released anyway.

Burp Jul 25, 2006 04:11 AM

I love Mario Paint! i have it original with mouse on my SNES, i draw a lot on it even if they look so dated...

Sure this is a fake, but... i cross my fingers to see something about MP on Wii anyway (better on DS i guess... Pictochat isnt enough)

This is a given. Actually, Heroes propels itself above game of the year, it's some untouchable higher life form!
