linux router?
Ive got a question for the linux/networking people here.
i have a high-end gigabit cisco switch, a ~20 mbps internet connection, and a asus wireless ap. i have a computer: amd athlon xp 2.8 ghz, 1 gb ram, 2 gigabit lan cards. i want to set the computer up as a router, dhcp server and fileserver. (or just a router and dhcp server, if that would be a better setup) im new to linux (aka, i have never used it for more then 10 mins) but i know it would be the best OS to use. How would i do this? ive tryed looking on google but all i can find is stuff thats not linux-noob friendly. (something that supports upnp and easy setup of port forwarding would be nice too...) |
Try Smoothwall. It works rather well.

Double Post: One more question: If i enable the cacheing proxy on the smoothwall gateway will that effect dynamic pages in any bad way, like say, the GFF front page? |
