Try operating in passive mode. Are you behind a router?

Check if you're caching directories. This is usually activated by default.

I do some trials and I note that is only the FTP where the port is not 21 that I can't open the folders.
The FTP with 21 in port like Killy, Mr Joy and Thalin; it's working for this FTP.
Maybe it's a probleme of number port.
I don't understand what appened.
Please help me.

It couldn't hurt to check the thread for each FTP that you can't connect to in order to determine the correct port number. What FTPs have you tried to connect to?

like NYRSkate said, it could be passive mode, which sometimes won't go passed the list command. When doing a quick connect make sure that use passive mode is checked - if it's just a green box then it will be the clients default setting.

I try this but it's the same result.I have a connection time-out every time.
I don't know what can I do.

Perhaps trying a different FTP Client? I recommend SmartFTP as it's free and pretty simple to use.

Are you at home or a school or something, Nesquik?
My guess would be you're running a firewall of some sort that's blocking traffic--do you run anything like McAfee Firewall, ZoneAlarm, or Kerio? I've been behind a router for ages, and was never not able to connect to the FTPs around here.

If you want to try, look at my sig for a link for help configuring FTP clients.

I have try smart FTP but with the same result.
I'm at home on my personnal computer and I don't have a firewall.

Bump !!

Maybe you have a router and don't know about it? (I've one integrated into the DSL modem, but the routing circuit can be disabled so it acts like a normal modem)

Hey dude, just a tip for later. Check the last posted dates and such. March 24th, so this guy's probably long gone and back to being a leech or has solved his own problem. Bumping threads as old as dirt are frowned upon in most circumstances! =o

LiquidAcid Jun 20, 2006 01:34 AM

Oops, sorry for that, should have checked that date first.
