Chevalier d'Eon
"Production I.G and Shochiku are teaming to produce an all new animated series titled Le Chevalier D'Eon. This high profile gothic mystery series (24 x 30' episodes) is directed by acclaimed director Kazuhiro Furuhashi (Get Backers, Hunter x Hunter, Rurouni Kenshin, Zipang) from an original story by novelist Tow Ubukata (Fafner of the Blue Sky, Mardock Scramble), who is also credited as story supervisor. The series will premiere in summer 2006 on WOWOW in Japan. The story is inspired by the figure of Charles-Genevieve-Louis-Auguste-Andre-Timothee Eon de Beaumont, usually known as the Chevalier d'Eon, a handsome intellect who actually lived between 1728 and 1810. D'Eon was known as a diplomat who traveled around various countries under the French king's command. But his most peculiar trait was that he managed to pass himself off as a woman. The core of the story is based on the mysterious hero and the historical facts." (source : Prod-IG ) "During the time when Louis XV still ruled France, a certain woman was found dead in the coffin floating through the Seine river. D'Eon, the woman's brother, determines to seach for the killer of his sister, Lia. But there are some strange movements in France. And things become more strange when Lia's soul enters D'Eon's body... " (Source : ANN ) The anime made by Production-IG is the adaptation of the manga from To Ubukata. The first episode is out, subbed by[AnY] and encoded in the unfriendly *.mkv format. But it really worth a try, not only it's an original approach of the story, but the animation is quite awesome and the pictures are beautiful, mostly for the reconstitution of the Versailles castle inner views and the Paris from this era. |
Unfortunately stupid fucking AnY has bad sound so I'm waiting for another group. I don't like having to adjust my speakers every minute.
|
Yeah I had this problem as well. Some sounds were just missing. I'm not sure if it's coming from this damn *.mkv format, or if my settings weren't right. There are two files from AnY, the first (172.62 Mb) is the normal version and the second (231.54 Mb) is the HD version, as I understood, since my PC refused to play it right.
|
mkv is really no problem, plus you'll have to get used to it. It's just that it was encoded in mp3 2.0 which is shit. Anyway, I can't play HD versions because my PC is insufficient.

I just finished watching episode one. I must say this series looks like it could be a great show. + They have a cute male lead with a sexy voice that's never wrong. :p
|
This looks like it will be GOOD! THANK GOD This season looks promising!
What makes it funny is Quote:
But this and Coyote Ragtime Show look very very good! |
Oh man, I am such a sucker for period anything. This reminds me of the Three Muskateers time period or something. Especially their getups. Unfortunately no one has bothered to scanslate the manga. And their main character looks cute in a fem way. I may watch the series (if it's not in .mkv).
