DVD Shrink Error

I'm trying to open up a movie (english movie) then shrink it to create an iso... but whenever I try to open it I get a

Invalid DVD Navigational Structure

Any clue what this could mean?

First site from my search, "Invalid DVD Navigational Structure":

Quote:

Problem 1:

You recieve the error when you try to open up a DVD or files.

The problem can be due to known "Problematic movies" such as Resident Evil: Apocalypse region 2,4,5. For more information on a list of those movies and a working solution look at this FAQ page.

Solution A1:

The best solution.

Use the final version 3.5.4.0 of DVD Decrypter to first rip your DVD to your hard disk and then use DVD Shrink in open file mode.

To be able to copy and handle the latest protection systems - there is a plugin for DVD Decrypter that will help you with your task.

You can read more about the PSL2 plugin in this thread.

Solution A2:

You don't need to use DVD Decrypter first to rip the files to your hard disk - just have DVD43Free running in the background and you can use DVD Shrink directly from the original source DVD - thus saving you valuable time. DVD43Free only works on Win2K and WinXP.

Solution B:

Try to unplugg your CD-Writer - could be a conflict. Credit: encounta

Solution C:

I extracted one DVD to a folder on my comp with DVDDecrypter. When I came to open it with DVD Shrink 3.2 (File, open... ) I got that message error : "Invalid DVD Navigation Structure". I found a solution for this problem using posts on this forum and a little bit of searching on the net.

1. Delete ifo files in the extracted DVD folder
2. Download IFOEdit at http://www.ifoedit.com/ (my version is 0.96)
3. Open it and click "Create IFOs" (the box at the bottom)
4. Fallow instructions and save IFO in the same rep as extracted DVD. Let it processe; It could take like 5 mins.
5. Close IFOEdit
6. Start DVDShrink 3.2, click File, Open... and it should work
7. (optional) I my case this step was necessary. You may have to rename vob files to this form "VTS_01_x.VOB" where x E[1,2,...,n] from first vob to the "n" last one

Please note that after shrinking a movie in the case you remove audio track(s) it could be a good idea to delete IFO in the encoded repertory then to apply step 3 to 5 from this little guide. This is a good idea because in the IFO there is still infos concerning removec audio track and when played on WinDVD, by example, the choice for removed audio track is still there, but it points to nowhere.

By example, you delete Spanish track because you speak English. If you dont do steps 3 to 5, in the DVD player Spanish will still be available, but when you'll click on it, nothing will happen. So this is only for a "looking" reason that you would do that, but mabye a bug could occure on some DVD player if you don't.... but for this part I really don't know.

After the Create IFOs, you need to manually input the languages.

Do this:

1. Open the IFO of the titleset concerned - eg VTS_01_0.IFO
2. In the VTS Overview screen locate the audio streams and subtitle streams
3. Double click on the relevant streams to get a dialogue box. Usually changing the language and number of channels is all that's required
4. Do this for all the audio streams and subtitle streams
5. Save the IFOs
6. Do the same for VIDEO_TS.IFO

Subtitle colours need to be checked and copied for each IFO. If you get green and unreadable subbtitles - you can use this fix. Credit: de Witte

Solution D:

Sometimes doing a "mock strip" with IFOEdit can resolve this problem with the advantages that all of the chapter points and audio and subtitle information remains intact.

1) Launch IFOEdit and open the VTS_01_0.IFO
2) Click on VOB Extras and make sure all check boxes are checked EXCEPT:
Remux, Rebuild PTS, Split to 2 DVD-Rs, and Remove IIvu/Angle Point.
3) Select a new destination directory.
4) Click OK.
5) make sure Correct IFO Tables checkbox is checked.
6) check all streams that are to be kept.
7) Click Strip It.
8) make sure Correct IFO Tables checkbox is checked.
9) check all VOB Ids.
10) Click Strip It and let IFOEdit process the files
11) When IFOEdit has finished, close IFOEdit

In the new destination directory, IFOEdit may have created a couple of zero length files (VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01_0.VOB). These should be removed.

12) Restart IFOEdit
13) Open the one of the new IFO files in directory D
14) Click on "Get VTS Sectors" and say OK to all of the dialog boxes

So what does this all mean? It means, and I couldn't agree more, that you should rip your DVDs to your hard drive (8ish GB, mind you) for work with DVDShrink. Delete the files after you're done.

Getting this error with DVD Decryptor

E 02:22:22 Failed to read Sector 333428 - L-EC Uncorrectable Error
E 02:22:22 Failed to decrypt VTS_06_1.VOB!

Odd, since the DVD works... I'll try right now with the DVD43Free

Sounds like a Sony/Columbia disc you have there, I would suggest downloading and installing AnyDVD. Set Decrypter like this once AnyDVD is installed.

Quote:

unticked "Remove Macrovision Protection" in the General tab;
unticked "Check for Structure Srotection" in the General tab;
unticked all marks except "Create MDS file" in the ISO Read Mode tab;
selected "None" as "CSS Cracking Method" in the CSS tab;
unticked "Detect Mastering Errors" in the CSS tab (actually it should be deselected by default);
selected "ElbyCDIO - Elaborate Bytes" as "Interface" in the I/O tab

Perhaps there's something wrong with the DVD...and I don't mean the playback. How about another disc? Can you successfully copy another disc to the hard drive?

Tsunade Jul 18, 2006 04:36 PM

hmm, where can I get an AnyDVD Crack <.<

BTW AnyDVD Worked!

Krizzzopolis Jul 19, 2006 06:03 AM

Easy and free way, use RipIt4Me.
Once the DVD is copied to your hard drive, open the files with DVD Shrink.

anyone know what this problem means? I got it the moment I opened up DVD Shrink without actually pressing anything else

T1249NTSCJ Jul 20, 2006 08:20 PM

It's probably your drive that needs some cleaning or the disc itself. What disc was it by the way, I'll be more than happy to report any problems with the current build of AnyDVD to the creator of the program.

Tsunade Jul 20, 2006 08:31 PM

How do you clean a disk oO.... and I just got the new drive so I'm guessing it's okay.... anywayz I'll test the disc out tomorrow by watching it and get back to you if the disc is corrupted

T1249NTSCJ Jul 21, 2006 04:31 AM

There are some CD/DVD cleaners out there you spray on the disc and wipe with a lint-free cloth which usually comes packaged together.
I was really hoping for the name of the disc, specific region as well. :doh:

Krizzzopolis Jul 28, 2006 05:57 AM

Let us know how its goin, I'm curious to see how things are turning out!

Krizzzopolis Aug 2, 2006 04:34 AM
