documentaries

I'm personally a big fan of documentaries. they can take subjects which I had no previous interest in and make me feel like a finatic (that is if they're done right) That being said, here are some of my recomendations:

The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing
Supersize Me
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room

What other gems are out there as far as the documentary world goes? I've heard March of the penguins is quite magnificant. I know I've been missing out on alot, so throw them at me!

I enjoy a good documentary here and there. Supersize me was especially good.

But I really like ROCKUMENTARIES!. "Song Remains the Same", "The Kids are Alright", "Woodstock" etc.

MOCKumentaries can be hilarious. :lolsign:

:lolsign: + = The One and Only "Mocku-rockumentary - This is Spinal Tap "

Talk about the ultimate combination.

Nice topic! I would highly recommend "Spellbound" and "Winged Migration". I loved those.

I'm partial to the Ken Burns Civil War deal. It was pretty awesome.

Deep Blue: about life on the oceans and under it. Brilliant cinematography and musical score.

Microcosmos: Fantastic use of close-up camera techniques show enlarged insects in their natural habitat.

Bowling for Columbine: Michael Moore's look at gun-crazy America. Insightful, eye-opening and downright touching.

Some Kind of Monster: Behind the Scenes of the making of Metallica's 2003 album St. Anger. Great Stuff!!!

I definitely enjoy documentaries.

Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism
Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price
Metal: A Headbanger's Journey

Those are the documentaries off the top of my head that I thoroughly enjoy.

Michael Moore's films succeed because, while the information presented is never groundbreaking or even always accurate, he at least presents it in a way that can be entertaining. With Supersize Me, Spurlock has taken a documentary that could have been very interesting and not full of bullshit biases, and instead of making that film, he imitated Moore and tried to make jokes for two hours while the films "serious business" went on around him. It was a movie made not to warn of obesity, but for some hipster elitists to have a laugh.

Hear ye, hear ye! I suggest you all go to your nearest video store and rent (or possibly buy) a film that goes by the name of ENRON: The Smartest Guys In The Room. The fact that this film lost the Academy Award to flightless, waddling bird footage will forever remain a black stain on the face of the A.M.P.A.A.S..

I mean, you can say you don't like it but, you know, that would make you an evil and foul human being.
