When the hell did The Hoff start a musical career?

Ok so, it seems that David Hasselhoff's hip-hop album that I was eagerly awaiting never happened.

In it's place though, Hoff seems to have put out a different sonically "gifted" musical collection. With amazing videos. :tpg:

His first album was released in 1984, and he has had seven albums in Europe that have gone gold or platinum since. I won't pretend to understand why.

Mind you, he can't be any worse than half the crap that get's airplay in North America.

I don't know exactly when he started this career, but I think it was sometime in the late 90s (i.e. this is kinda old). I think he's really big in Europe or something.

OOGA CHAKA HOOGA HOOGA.
:tpg:

Why. Oh why. It looks as if the "Tunak Tunak Tan" director got the reins for Hasselhoff's vids as well. I guess now I know his credentials for being a judge on "America Has Talent"....
:(

He's a huge hit in Germany apparently.

You probably didn't hear him. It's a cover version.

:tpg: What's wrong scotty? Aren't you hooked on the feeling?

Sigh, seriously though, even if this is old, I don't know that it being produced 10 years ago or so excuses the videos' craptacular quality...

I know he started his career either before or around the same time as Baywatch because my little sister received a Baywatch barbie doll with a tape of David Hasselhoff singing. There was a rumor that Ice-T was going to be in charge of David Hasselhoff's rapping career, but he stated on Conan O' Brien that it was just a rumor.

Is Paris Hilton worse than this?

I guess it depends. It sound like she's trying to be the next No Doubt, but fails. She's trying to sound deep as well, but with her personality it seems very, VERY fake. I think the only reason many people like her first single is because of the upbeat music that fails to match the lyrics (and because it's Paris Hilton).

As knkwzrd said, his first album came out in 84. He's been singing since the Knight Rider days. You guys oughtta see his awesomeness in:

Just watch the video to Jump In My Car if you want to laugh until your sides hurt.

Huh, I thought he was only popular in Germany, not all of Europe.

I thought so as well, then again I rarely hear anything about Hoff since Baywatch ended, except for the rare late-night shows and MSN updates. Last thing I heard about him was that he was allegedly drunk at a soccer/tennis game and when security guards were carrying him out for causing a disturbance, he kept yelling, "Don't you know who I am? I'm the HOFF!"

If loving David Hasselhoff's music is wrong, I don't want to be right. Or sane.

The German people's love for Hasselhoff has been well known for years, and well documented by various skit comedy shows over the past decade. I am surprised that this information has recently taken anyone by surprise.
