Milk chocolate or dark chocolate?

What do you prefer? Milk chocolate or dark chocolate? A lot of people tell me they hate dark chocolate and I don't get it at all. To me it's so much richer and a lot more flavorful than milk chocolate. Also it goes so much better with other stuff like chocolate covered cherrys or choclate mints. It's always so much better using dark chocolate. I like dark chocolate a hundred times better than milk.

Dalkaen Jul 7, 2006 02:11 AM

Milk chocolate is a hundred times better, actually. Dark chocolate's not too bad, but it simply doesn't compare. :p It's too bitter.

Dee Jul 7, 2006 03:38 AM

This is a no brainer. Dark chocolate consumes me. And it tastes oh so much better than milk chocolate. Milk chocolate is just so formulaic, but dark has that mystery to it that you can't help but love it.

Kairyu Jul 7, 2006 04:09 AM

Well I like dark chocolates far more if its covering something. Maybe a cherry or a coffee bean. Otherwise milk chocolate is the one I would pick over and over again.

So uh, milk chocolate for me.

Rockgamer Jul 7, 2006 05:05 AM

Milk chocolate for me. I'll eat dark chocolate if it's the only thng that's there, but it's really not that good. It's just not sweet enough to be any good most of the time.

xSummonerYUnax Jul 7, 2006 06:52 AM

I like milk chocolate better. Dark chocolate is also fine as long as the bitterness is tolerable, but I would definitely go for the milk when given the choice between the two.

Dullenplain Jul 7, 2006 01:53 PM

Milk chocolate I like by itself and is best in overtly sweet things like candies.

Dark chocolate I prefer with something, like a dessert which requires a flavor that doesn't necessarily need to be as sweet.

Complicated, I know.

Fleshy Fun-Bridge Jul 7, 2006 01:56 PM

Dark Choclate. Milk chocolate is just too plain sweet for me, and too much of it makes me fill sick. Dark Choclate, on the other hand, has a flavor filled with complexity not just sweetness. Sweet, bitter, nutty, floral, its all there.

BlueEdge Jul 7, 2006 03:26 PM

Dark chocolate, which I prefer, is much more of an acquired taste. You have to learn to appreciate the bitter taste. But yeah, I don't mind milk chocolate, but now a fan of white chocolate.

scotty Jul 7, 2006 03:30 PM

I prefer milk chocolate, but don't mind dark chocolate. If there was a bowl of milk chocolate on a table next to a bowl of dark chocolate, I will eat them both.

YeOldeButchere Jul 7, 2006 04:18 PM

Dark chocolate. Good dark chocolate. The more bitter, the better.

Not to say milk chocolate isn't any good, but I just don't like it as much. The "good/bad" chocolate ratio seems to be higher for dark chocolate than it is for milk chocolate, too.

Freelance Jul 7, 2006 04:25 PM

Milk chocolate. I can't stand dark chocolate. The taste is like, bleh. Milk chocolate all the way.

DragoonKain Jul 7, 2006 08:45 PM

I never found dark chocolate bitter. I just find it very rich and sweet.

Rydia Jul 7, 2006 10:28 PM

I don't mind either one. Although I tend to go for milk chocolate often, I can tolerate dark chocolate unlike others I know. Sometimes I find milk chocolate too sweet though.

Soluzar Jul 7, 2006 10:38 PM

Milk chocolate is good for a lot of things. When ever you mix chocolate and something else, it has to be the milk chocolate for me. However, if I want to just eat piece of chocolate, it has to be dark.

Ryuu Jul 7, 2006 10:52 PM

I don't mind either one, but if I had to choose I would probably choose milk chocolate over dark chocolate.

Visavi Jul 7, 2006 11:05 PM

I love both of them in their own way. Dark chocolate is supposedly better for you, but milk chocolate has a lighter flavor for desserts. However, organic dark chocolate is too bitter for me. It's funny to see the expression on my sibling's milk chocolate loving face when I made them try it ;).

Same. It seems to be a much more flavorful chocolate, and therefore gets my pick.

Fatt Jul 7, 2006 11:58 PM

I'm not a big fan of chocolate either way, but if I have to choose on just a straight dark or milk choice, I'll take milk. If I have a glass of milk with my chocolate, I'll take the dark.

I'm still waiting for some joker to come out and demand white chocolate be added to the poll.

That should be a bannable offense.

YeOldeButchere Jul 8, 2006 12:47 AM

Actually, I don't hate white chocolate. Some of it is actually quite good. Sure, there's a lot of crap, as with milk chocolate, but if you actually find some decent one, then it's good.

But I do agree it's not exactly the same as milk and dark chocolate. If anything it's a distinct category of "chocolate derivatives".

SonicEchidna Jul 8, 2006 05:56 AM

Milk chocolate all the way. Dark chocolate just tastes horrible to me, but I'll eat it if that's the only thing around. Or if I'm just desperate for a chocolate fix.

Bernard Black Jul 8, 2006 06:08 AM

It depends how you buy it. In bars on its own, definately milk chocolate. But if it's a coating or if it's going with something else, then plain chocolate (eg I <3 jaffa cakes). It's too rich for me, if I have more than a couple of pieces of plain I feel sick. But it does taste nice.

Shoeless Jul 8, 2006 02:02 PM

I hate milk chocolate. Dark chocolate hits the spot.

Conqueso Jul 8, 2006 07:18 PM

Dark chocolate can be really good, depending on how dark it is. My mom buys this 90% cocoa stuff that literally tastes like dirt, but I know that's the exception, not the norm. Still, milk chocolate is more dependable--I've never had to rinse my mouth out after eating it, I can tell you that much--so it kind of evens out.

And I like white chocolate :(
