I'm deeply agree with you. When I first listen to the music,I'm a little unaccommodate, because I can not here anything with Sakuraba Marks.Till I play the game, I can dig VP2 now. This time, his music is lmore orchestra, more ambient, more cinematic which fit in game very much, rather than progressive rock. IMO,It is a special work diffrent from other his works! BTW,I upload the VP2 rips for you all.Enjoy ,take a new taste for Sakuraba! Valkyrie Profile 2 Silmeria Original Game Audio(sorry,Japannese file name) ripped by rpgmm Part1 227M Part2 113M |
Wow, thanks for these! :D
I've only got the first half so far, but it's pretty good to me. :) |
Excellent rip - (notices the -D- tracks are battle themes)
Is it possible to get the english translation of this rip? |
Yeah, it's a great rip. A lot of this music is quite lovely and the battle themes are more exciting than usual. I'd call this one of Sakuraba's best. Nice to see the game inspired him.
It sounds like he's going further down the SO3 route in using live instruments. Awesome. ;) I take it this music was streamed? (Also, a few of the tracks came in with 0 bytes. Is this normal?) |
Great rips, shylph!
Thank you very much. Quote:

(x-posted from STC, but figured I'd throw my two cents in here, too)
Rahaha. After closer inspection, this was absolutely not digitally extracted, though it sounds awesome for a recording. I tried a bit of BabelFish on rpgmm's blogpost, but didn't come to any conclusions one way or the other. Anyway, here are points that lead me to believe this was recorded: 1. The files 44.1 khz. Most PS2 streamed bgm is natively 48khz. Downsampling from 48/44.1 solely using an MP3 encoder, at least in my experience, seriously screws with the audio. This sounds like it was natively 44.1kHz to begin with. 2. There are a few footsteps at the beginning of most of the files. This again, is a sign that the music was recorded. 3. The music loops and fades out. Were it extracted using MFAudio or something like CubeMediaPlayer, it would cut off abruptly, unless it were looped manually, and I know to do it perfectly takes... a long ass time. 4. VP2: Silmeria uses the same filesystem and compression that Star Ocean 3 and Radiata Stories do. The music is streamed, but it's not in any format that any ripping program can currently extract. The recordings are great, though. Thanks for the link, and sorry to crap up the thread. :) |
I believe the final boss themes are D12 and D13. I've watched videos of those battles and the music is missing from the rip.
|
Well those tracks can wait until the soundtracks release - I love the new battle theme (even though it may not be as memorable as the VP Lenneth battle theme)
I bet the vast majority of battle themes will be on Vol.2 >< later release |
Hello,
Just a quick question how come it is when I try to burn the music files onto cd it will not let me though the files have a mp3 extention. Just curious, and to see if there is a way to fix it the music is awsome. Thanks. Teresa. |
Hey tlrunions and everyone! I have the same problem. When I tried to burn out track B17 (which was wonderful) the entire program stopped. It might be the tracknames that's wrong, like too long or something.
|
No, it's because the tracknames are in japanese (and not romanji Japanese). Unicode is not liked by cd burners.
|
Hello,
So can we fix them just by changing the name of the tracks?. Teresa. Double Post: Hello, Sorry to repost but I answered my own question yes if you change the track names they will work in burners hope that helps everyone out. Teresa. |
Also, some tracks are written in Chinese(impoted here from a certain Chinese website). One of my pc installed windows 2000 couldn't read fully.

I'm in love with the music in VP2. ^_^ It's almost nothing like the Sakuraba I've heard before (except some battle music and usual chord progression of course), and that's probably why I love it.
