FTP problems :(
Hello all,
With my new desktop, I decided to start running an FTP again (I havn't run one for years), but I've got a problem now. At first I thought it was caused by my screensaver (just the my pictures screensaver), because it seemed that everytime the computer returned from the screensaver, any downloads in progress would suddenly stop. So I turned off my screensaver, but the problem is still happening. I'll post a log of it when I get home, but if someone wants to test it out - just click the link in my sig, and download one of the medical textbooks. Thanks |
Here is another problem (maybe related), while uploading some files through SmartFTP:

This is quite unusual, I take it that's part of the log from when you were uploading to my FTP server. I've adjusted the permissions just in case it might be a problem on my side, but I'm not sure this will help solve any of the encountered connecting errors. Also, I assume you've adjusted your firewall already, but are you using a router? If you are, it might be wise to check its configuration as well. You're running a static IP so it should be easier to setup IMO.

I'll double check the router, but I'm pretty sure everything is setup OK (port forwarded, etc...)
|
Another thing to check for when using a router is to always keep it up-to-date with the latest firmware.

This is so frustrating.
The FTP is screwed right up - it won't let me finish downloading anything. It will start, and then shortly after, I get an error, and the transfer terminates. Here is a log from the most recent incident: [16:14:16] TYPE I [16:14:16] 200 Type set to I. [16:14:16] PASV [16:14:16] 227 Entering Passive Mode (69,199,71,82,75,29). [16:14:37] 602112 bytes transferred. (28.3 KB/s) (00:00:20) [16:14:38] 426 Cannot retrieve. Failed. Aborting [16:14:38] MDTM 1-02 Voice Mail #1.mp3 [16:14:38] 550 '1-02 Voice Mail #1.mp3' : no such file or directory. [16:14:38] Transfer failed. Firmware is the latest, and the ports are forwarded correctly (as far as I can tell). But this seems to be happing to everybody :( Double Post: Ok, I think I figured it out - I think its an active/passive problem - because I don't seem to be getting disconnected now that I've turned off passive mode. |
