Welcome to Spatula's CC thread. Some of you may know, one of my hobbies is plastic model building of mechanical creations from various movie, video game, and especially anime shows. Most of my works featured will be from Macross, as much of my model kits I bought consist of Valkyries, as you can see here:

To kick things off, here are two Valkyries that I finished up in 2005. These are the VF-1A Valkyrie and the VF-1D Valkyrie (trainer fighter).

I finished this up before returning to GFF, so about February/March sometime.

As of now, I'm working on two projects. The VT-1 Super Ostrich, and the Shinohara AV-98 Ingram.

Man, are you going to do this step by step for us? >w<

How much does this hobby cost you annually?

Edit: desu ka

It's hard to get an average. But lets say 1 Valkyrie kit is 3000/$30 yen, then you've got about 5 bottles of paint at like $3 each, then the airbrush, then the aircompressor, the decal softner, the paint thinner, paint brushes, plain decal paper, masks, glue, tape, hobby knives, work table, lamp, yes, it adds up. Basically to say, 1 time start up costs are probably about $400 to $500 and then perhaps $50-$100 each year for the supplies/paints alone, then each kit will probably be from $30 to $100.

Can I go buy a Xbox 360 now desu ka.

AV-98 INGRAM

Here's a hint of more offerings to come.

The "city slicker" Alphonse (White and Black) kit is about 90% done. I still have to attach the battering shield, put a final coat of future wax and of course affix the decals.

Bump for not so great justice. Oh wait. I should get a cloth and wipe up all the fingerprints.

An update.

Here's the Strike Valk I've been working on.

Also, holy shit, does like no one on GFF really give a care about model kits? ;___;

More like the fact that nobody comes into TCC. Very good looking model. :3 Like I said it before, all the details makes the differences, it looks huge in close shots. ^o^ If I buy another gundam I'll get some questions in, but for now, I'll have to wait until I get a job. ;_;

Spatula Sep 24, 2006 11:51 PM

With the overwhelming vote for Ingram # 2, well then, I guess my next project is settled.

Spat, your models are awesome. But I've never made any model before (except I trashed a gundam wing before and threw it in my storeroom LOL), so I can't post anything constructive. If this was your journal entry I'd prop each of your models. =\
