Do you enjoy going to see fireworks?
 

This question is inspired by the nearing of the 4th of july holiday. A lot of people love going to see fireworks, but I have never been a fan of it. I used to go as a kid, but only because my friends went, but I stopped going a while back. It's just not fun to me. A lot of my friends still go to fireworks.

So, do you enjoy seeing fireworks or is it not your thing?

There's more to watching fireworks than simply watching the fireworks I think. Like the company you have and the things that you do together for example.

I think the last time I really enjoyed fireworks was when I went over to my military friend's house. He bought some illegal (in CA) fireworks on his way from the base in Texas, they wet down the roof, and launched about three hours' worth of explosives in their cul-de-sac :).

Not to mention my friends have a bit of pyromania. Fusing together the 'legal' stuff to make flaming masses and such.

There we go, someone understands that it's more than just lights in the sky.
I don't like to watch it by myself but if I'm with someone then it's so much more better to watch.

I used to live on the 3rd floor of a Victorian house (Note: Victorian house means 14' high ceilings per floor, so 3rd floor is high), and each 4th I would go up to the roof and see all the Chicago and surburban fireworks. I hate going out to the crowded beaches where kids are running around kicking sand and alcohol is not permitted. I loved kickin back with my ladies and fellas sippin magaritas and enjoying the show. Ever since I moved out, I quit seeing the fireworks all together.

I can spend time in good company, doing fun things, without needing some damned exploding paper tubes. Fireworks haven't been fun to me since I was very young.

I used to enjoy watching them alot but all the fireworks shows i've been to recently over the years haven't been all that good. It's always pretty good in my area on November 5th because we can just walk around the area and theres fireworks going off everywhere. Last year we stood at the back of the pub and watched fireworks coming from he primary school around here and they were pretty good. It's the most fun to see them with friends and family. Seeing them on my own is a bit rubbish. I enjoy them overall but not as much

I don't particularly get enjoyment from anticipating watching the fireworks, and would have to agree moreso that it's the company that is fun.
I'm more excited at the fact that I am going with my friends to enjoy the neat light show, more than the fireworks themselves. When the fireworks are pretty and top quality, that only helps add to my enjoyment.

I used to go when I was younger with my parents, but I don't anymore. Besides, if I stay at home, I can watch bigger shows there, like Boston, and DC's shows.

I usually like if the fireworks are a part of the celebration, rather than the main focus. Again, it just adds to the enjoyment, not neccessarily be the facilitator for it.

I go with my friends every year so its not so bad. The actual fireworks never impressed me though. After the first couple, its all the same for me...

I thoroughly enjoy them, and they try to do something new and innovative every year to keep me excited. The best part is the smell and the thuds you feel in your chest.

I enjoy watching fireworks during important celebrations. I tend to see them while with friends or family, and I associate fireworks with memorable occasions.

The last batch of Canada Day fireworks I saw were lukewarm at best. Even the "grand finale" was more what I would expect from the build up to the finale. I am rarely impressed my fireworks, and they are only good if a single barage can last an entire minute at least of intense flame and noise.

I like setting off my own as opposed to watching. Tonight some friends and I lit 3-foot-long sparklers that were pretty cool.

But my memories of going to see fireworks as a child involve lots of crowds (which I hate), heat, and arguments over whether it would get rained out.

I actually have the 4th of July off this year. last year I spent it in the hospital, and had to work the year before that. I'm hoping I can make it out to Rockford park and see the fireworks display that is put on there annually. Then, of course, there will be the countless 'mini-shows' that people will invariably light off in public parks, school lots, and their backyards.

My cousins also light off fireworks during their annual summer beach trip to Nag's Head, NC.

I'm not a big fan of watching fireworks as in to setting them off.

Fireworks display events somewhat interest me. I just don't like that type where you'd look up and stare at those aerial types. I'd rather set off 4 hours worth of fireworks in my backyard and make a shitload of noise; much more fun to me at least.

I'm not too big on going to see them, but I will watch them on TV sometimes. If I do want to see them for real though, I'd rather just step outside and watch the neighbors do it rather than go to one of those big, fancy foreworks shows. I hardly ever shoot them off myself since it's illegal in city limits anyway (and even when I lived outside the city for a couple of years, where it was legal, I still never really shot any off myself). I guess I just really don't care for them that much.

Went to some last night for Canada day. I do rather enjoy them, but I don't go out of my way to see them. This particular show was a rather long one (about 20 minutes or so), but didn't have anything that was really that exciting. Quantity not quality.

Still the best I've ever seen are at Walt Disney World. They spend more on fireworks a night than I probably make in year.

I like them and all, but there comes a point where I yawn and just want to leave, you know, the time where there are a few duds here and there and the fireworks people are scrambling their last ounce of fireworks for the "let's get rid of all fireworks we've got" segment. That's my favorite part.

I have work until 6:30 PM on the 4th, (Time and a half pay :)) but that still gives me plenty of time to figure out whether or not I'll be going to see any fireworks. There are several places around town that are staging fireworks displays but I'm not sure I'll go because in the past few years they've gotten a bit boring. It's too bad because my favorite part of the show is the finale, where they set off every avaliable firework left.

For most of my life, I really didn't have much of a choice as to whether or not I wanted to see them. They held the event at a park about three hundred meters from my home, so all I had to do was look outside and they were clear to see. The irritating thing was that everyone parked in my neighborhood to see them, so it was impossible to get my truck out of there for several hours before/after the event. Still, it was fun to watch from my rooftop so I had an uninterrupted view.

Since I ended up in Washington, my home sits on a hill that overlooks the town center and lets me see their display from the deck. The best thing is that everyone in town buys a shitload of fireworks from the indian reservations nearby, so on the fourth the skyline looks like a warzone.

Indeed I do, but only if there's a big ending. I prefer the large spectacles put on by the city. If I fire fireworks at home, they're two small and don't give off that "Oooh, pretty colors!" factor.
