Wow, July is really going to suck. There is absolutely nothing on that list that is even the least bit appealing. I have way too many games backlogged anyway, so it's not like I even need to get any new games anyway.

Cobra Commander Jun 30, 2006 08:28 PM

I would have agreed with you like 2 weeks ago but now that I own a 360 and everyone I know is going for chromehounds, I guess I gotta get it to play with um. Yeah, big mech 1 fan here.

Newbie1234 Jun 30, 2006 08:59 PM

I got LOTR on Xbox 360 pre-ordered already, as I'm very curious as to how they're going to make it work.

Prey and Chromehounds will probably get a rental when I have time.

I'll definitely check out Tekken for PSP as well.

Infernal Monkey Jun 30, 2006 11:35 PM

Ahaha nice, EBGames.corn are using the God awful Euro box art for Bubble Bobble Revolution. I REALLY hope whoever's publishing it over there is indeed keeping it.

Magic Jul 1, 2006 12:00 AM

This is one of the benefits to not buying games on release date. Even during the slow months you can walk into a game store and pick up something that people were anticipating months ago, and it's usually a lot cheaper too! Hence, I will be playing Resident Evil 4 for the next few weeks.

Rocca Jul 1, 2006 12:05 AM

Yes, I went to EB just yesterday and they were already selling Odama for $9. Not that it's still worth an immediate pick-up.

Grawl Jul 1, 2006 04:32 AM

'July 10, 2006 Prey (Limited Collector's Edition)'

I'll get that for sure.

Kaphwan 86 Jul 1, 2006 05:05 AM

Europeans will get Super DBZ and Street Fighter Alpha Anthology. I will get those and import Battle Stadium D.O.N. Plus, I still have to finish Resident Evil 4, so July will rule for me. =D

Dr. Uzuki Jul 1, 2006 05:17 AM

Pac Man World Rally? If that gets even slightly favorable reviews I might throw my money away on that for the sheer novelty of racing Pac Men.

Render Jul 1, 2006 12:51 PM

Aside from the ones that Rocca highlighted, the only game to catch my eye was:

BARNYARD

Seriously, it's being made for 4 systems. It must be good with it's high budget!

Golfdish from Hell Jul 1, 2006 01:22 PM

Wow, I'm surprised Summon Night is coming up this fast. Definitely looking forward to this one (and hopefully eventually lead to some localizations for the console versions).

I might have to look at BB Revolution and Pac Man World Rally if time/money permits.

Otherwise...Slow month...As usual.

Helloween Jul 1, 2006 02:36 PM

Ugh, absolutly nothing noteworthy on that list. I'm sorta glad i'm spending my whole summer away from the computer and stuff. I'm not gonna have to deal with slow news months, and poor release lists.

I'm predicting a very low amount of favourable titles until around November, with a breif break in that when FFXII comes out.

SuperSonic Jul 1, 2006 03:17 PM

Huh...first I heard of Super DBZ for the PS2. I checked it out...looks like the 2-D Budokai stuff again (awesome!), but the controls are different and instead of air fighting, the characters stand on invisible platforms in the air!? Did I miss something here?

Well, I'll go ahead and at least rent it just to see what it looks like. Budokai 3 has been the best so far (haven't touched Tenkaichi...looks 3D), so we'll see if this lives up as to the Budokai reputation as well.

WolfDemon Jul 1, 2006 04:34 PM

If I remember correctly, Super DBZ is supposed to cater to the hardcore fighting fans and have complex combo moves sort of like Capcom vs SNK. There's another DBZ game coming out sometime after that, which is supposedly like an updated Tenkaichi.

There's some videos for it at Gametrailers. Looks interesting. I may give it a rental, as I usually finish everything in those games within a week and end up returning it for something else anyway.

kat Jul 1, 2006 04:49 PM

You'd think the industry would captialize on summer vacation and release a bunch of great games so that all their consumers up until the age of 22 would have something to do during a break from school. But instead they stick their thumbs up their asses and wait until Fall when I'm festering in a classroom.

Miles Jul 1, 2006 05:01 PM

I'm very annoyed that all the games I want this year come out the SAME MONTH. October: Ar Tonelico, Rogue Galaxy, Phantasy Star Universe<3, Tales of the Abyss, and of course Final Fantasy XII which is supposed to be a long ass game.

The only 2 titles I would consider getting this month are Valkyrie Profile and Blade Dancer. I might hold off on Blade Dancer until I get some user feedback because I don't know if the multiplayer is any good or the game itself. Valkyrie Profile is a must since my psx copy is in storage and I've wanted to play it again for the longest time.

The Burniator Jul 1, 2006 05:43 PM

July looks like it is going to suck. Nothing caught my eye this month.

Mucknuggle Jul 1, 2006 07:35 PM

I'm actually going to try out Super DBZ. My friends and I used to have tons of fun with the SNES DBZ fighter... Hyper Fighting or something like that. This may be good for a few hours of fun. I doubt that it will tear us away from our Capcom vs SNK 2 obssession though.

solid_snake Jul 2, 2006 05:05 AM

me too, am really excited about super dbz as well pal...
at least its one great game releasing this july alongside with prey of course.

cubed Jul 2, 2006 10:17 AM

Oh yeah, definitively Valkyrie Profile Lenneth for PSP. Can never get enough of Valkyrie Profile.

I think the remaining months until the next next-generation consoles (PS3 and Wii) is gonna be dry on good games. Great occasion to save your money!

Hyper Dimesion, I believe? Heh, Street Fighter 2 hit right in the middle of DBZ's run (I believe it would have peaked right around the time the Cell Games first showed), so there were a quite a few DBZ Street Fighter 2 clones that came out. I'm not the biggest fan of the DBZ games, but at least they don't have Sagat in them...:aargh:

I'm glad this month, VP is getting another chance...I put a bucket of time into the PS1 game and I think it's easily #1 or #2 among RPG's for that generation (it constantly fights with Suikoden 2 for the top spot in my mind...Suikoden 2 for best story/characters, VP for outright gameplay/fun). Hopefully now that it has officially become legendary, it will translate to more copies being sold...I read the original sold about 20,000 copies total (I was able to find a copy on discount at $20 four months after the release at Target...Probably should have bought the rest of the ones they had as well. $_$) But I guess that's what happens when you launch near-opposite of both a Chrono update and a Final Fantasy update (FFIX) and the media doesn't pay you any attention.

Freelance Jul 2, 2006 11:35 AM

Man, what a crappy list. I can't help but think this summer's going to have nothing but crappy kid's games, judging from the good ol' July list.

The only remotely interesting game is Super DBZ, ironically. I like the idea of a more traditional DBZ fighting game, and it seems to be a better game than the Budokai series from the videos I've seen, but even then, I doubt I'll be getting it for several reasons.

Unfortunately, I get headaches from playing Prey, so no, I very much doubt I'll get that.

Now if they came out with a DB fighting game, I'd be interested, but ha! Fat chance of that ever happening.

NES Oldskooler Jul 2, 2006 12:13 PM

It's not really that bad of a list.

Valkyrie Profile will probably be worth picking up unless it's ruined by terrible load times, and if Tekken 5 is online, that could be fun as well.

I'm definitely looking forward to Prey, though. The demo was enough to convince me that not all first-person shooters have to be boring and repetitive, and it seems like the most genuinely fun shooter since Duke Nukem 3D.

yeah, savin' money this month is probably a great idea cuz we realy might have some good use of that money on next gen games, not to mention ps3, its price of games is gonna' be WAY high.
