Monster Hunter

Are there any GFF members that still play Monster Hunter? I'm online regularly, my char's name is of course Nukkus. I'm lv6.

no one likes this game anymore?

I used to play this game quite a bit a few months ago, put in about 170 hours and got to HR17 or so, but for some reason I just kinda lost interest in it (even though it still feels like there's a lot I haven't explored, like lances...). I hop on every once in a while, but haven't really lately since I got a bunch of single-player games to play through.

I just play Monster Hunter: Freedom now, and unfortunately, no online for that one (unless you use XLink and that's way too hard to set up).

Fun game, though.

I used to play it abit. Now I'm just waiting for Monster Hunter 2 while I play other stuff since it'll probably be better anyhow.

How about some link and description?

DarkMageOzzie Jun 2, 2006 01:41 AM

I don't have any links but I can tell you about it. It's for the PS2. What's it about? The game's name pretty much says it all.

You pretty much live in a world filled with dinosaurs, wyverns, and other weird animals/monsters. You do random tasks for your town that range from killing a certain number of a monsters, one specific monster, fishing, gathering specific herbs, etc. It's kind of like an rpg but not quite. The town is set up similar to a rpg town, but there really isn't a storyline. Your goal is just to be the best hunter that you can be.

You don't level up in this(Not in the normal rpg sense anyhow), your strength are all determined by your gear. Which for the most part is all created from parts that you carve out of the monsters you slay. The game is all about having the strong/cool looking gear and earning a high hunter rank.

There is an offline mode but the best parts of the game can only be experience online. Online mode is also free.

Wow, this game is online? I thought it was offline only. I'll have to look into it now. Are there any monthly fees?

Hmm, sounds intriguing. Is there enough people playing online to make it a worthwhile purchase (number count, if possible)?
