Firefox not playing videos.
Not much more to say. I can't play hardly any videos on firefox. I usually have to switch to IE to play them.
|
a plugin is required, I am having this problem right now as well...
|
At least I'm not solo on this one. Maybe post if you find the said plugin, that'd be great. Thanks.
|
Are you referring to flash videos like on YouTube? I had that same problem too, if so, and my friend also told me you needed to download a plugin/redownload flash for Firefox, but it didn't work still :(
Dunno about Quicktime though. |
I don't have any problem with Flash videos at all. It's embedded video files that I can't view.
|
Me too. I can view things like youtube just fine, google video works too, just things that are in the WMP format dont work.
EDIT: As of now I got Quicktime to work, just not regular imbedded videos. |
Well, what happens? Does Firefox crash, does the player show up and not play anything, does the page come up blank?
Can you give us an example page that you are having trouble with? I haven't had that problem. Also, if it is only WMP, can you tell us what version of WMP you have on your computer, as well as what version of Firefox? |
An example is any of the videos on gamespot/ign or anything like that. The video just doesn't appear. The window with the video appears, and the video player is left blank.
EDIT1: Here's my dilema, thought of using Gamespot. http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1200/untitled3ea.jpg EDIT2: Should I re-install it to see it that works? |
You could try the Mozilla Plugins from the VideoLan Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)
Works pretty well here. And if anyone got problems with embedded Flash: Try disabling "Obj Tabs" in the Adblock Settings (If you have installed the Adblock extension - if not, I have no idea what´s wrong) |
Thanks a lot all y'all who helped (or tried to).
ADITIONAL NOTE: VLC didnt work, in case there are other options you know of. |
could it be some problem with your Windows Media player? Have you tried reinstalling that?
|
Have you reinstalled Firefox yet? Also, make sure there are no extensions turned on.
Also, Tools->Options->View/Edit Actions and look to see if the file type is there and, if so, what it is doing. |
Pretty sure this will solve your problem: Install this.
