Crysis. From the makers of Far Cry.

Figures that many are hyped up about the game again. According to IGN: "Crysis will involve a "new kind of gameplay challenge requiring adaptive tactics and customisation of weapons and armor in dynamic, hostile environments as mankind struggles to survive in the face of a horrific alien invasion", which imports another step in innovativeness.

Basically, I'm interested in this game coming out. Anyone else interested?

This looks very promising. They have implemented alot of cool features into the cry engine. I see they have added alot of real life physics, its going to be interesting seeing how all of that works together.

I will definatly check this one out when it hits the shelves.

Looks very promising indeed, now it only needs a good story and great gameplay and it's a sure buy!! :guitarist:

A German magazine called GameStar had a big article about Crysis one month ago. While the game itself may look very spectacular, Crytek pointed out that the player only has to spend about eight hours to finish the game. There might be alternate ways to master specific sections of the game, but eight hours is still a little bit too short. Actually, it's not unusual for games to last only some hours, but when it comes to such a extraordinary game, it's somewhat disappointing. I at least could do without some effects and graphical goodies to have a longer game experience.

Let's not jump to conclusions yet about the length of the game, not until we know all the features that will be implemented. Crytek could be talking about beginning to end of the main storyline, but not all the extra stuff you'll be able (or not able) to do within missions.

I for one am keeping an eye on this one. Still regularly play Far CRy on PC, just got Instincts on Xbox so yeah I'm having high hopes for Crysis but my oh my what hardware will I need to run this pretty baby???

The game looks neat indeed, but this shit's just hilarious:

Lovingly crafted by Crytek's marketing team. They're SHIFTING PARADIGMS etc.

Also, I suggest everyone who is interested checking out some scans: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=64388

Looks good indeed. Hopefully the gameplay will be fun as well.

JasonTerminator Mar 8, 2006 02:04 PM

Goddamn. I hope to god my new PC can play this game looking like that.

I must have this game.

RushJet1 Mar 8, 2006 03:50 PM

yeh... i never thought far cry was really fun... it had its moments, but it wasn't the best game. i enjoyed other stuff like hl2 much more. it was a pretty game, though.

on another note, anyone else here think it's retarded that crytek HAS to have the word "cry" in every game they make? what are we going to get next? crytical error? cryminal actions? cryppling power?

Darkelf Mar 8, 2006 07:40 PM

How about Cry-comp. Because my comp will cry under the strain of trying to run the game.

No seriously that screenshot looks better than CG in most movies nowadays. I'm even more excited now I know Crysis is actually a sci-fi shooter. I love sci-fi and I love FPS, you do the math...

Jarllax Mar 10, 2006 05:33 PM

Those screens look amazing. Definatelly loving those CG-like graphics.

Damn all these games making me have to upgrade my computer.

Speaking of Far Cry, what the hell happened to it? EBGames doesn't even list it anymore, but I can't imagine it's old enough to be out of production.

ApOcaLyPSe_1985 Mar 11, 2006 06:01 AM

"There will be a high degree of interactivity with the environment. For example, if you shoot a tree then it falls down and you cant hide behind it anymore [unless a player lies down], if a tree falls across a road a jeep cant drive across it, but a tank can. They (the trees) can fall on someone’s head and kill or injure them. It is a very complete game (world). If a tree lies across the road then the AI knows this and stops the jeep, the ability to destroy the world is not just a side story but is crucial to game play."

Whoa, that sounds awesome. I hope it's not limited to trees but goes near the destruction Black goes :p
Sigh, it will probably become another CPU killer. Hello upgrade :/

GameStop's whoring buyout told them to reduce their PC selection to about 1/4 of what it was, to stop dealing used software, and to only have like 1 copy of each game.

Sexninja Mar 23, 2006 07:14 AM

This game just owned me through its spectacular graphics, ofcourse what one could expect from Crytek engine 2.

But this is really something,MGS4 beater(till E3 2006).

My question:

What do you see?Does it "look" better than MGS4 or not?

Darkelf Mar 23, 2006 10:12 AM

Those links ain't workin'. I'm sure the filename shouldn't read "New_F...mv_640x360.zip".

UPDATE: Ok links corrected. Thx.
