KOF XI (PS2 Import)
OK TIERS...
OMG: KULA, GATO, OSWALD own this b*tch. Load times suck booty, however.... I was playing around in the options yesterday and I found something in there that said "cut intro" or something like that. When I chose "yes", it seemed to cut load time significantly. It might be my imagination because I've become used to the game...but the load times seem to be much more reasonable now. BTW...last guy..."Magaki" or whatever his name is...unbeatable. The only way I beat him was to tone down the CPU level and go "one rounders". If the CPU chooses...you simply cannot get close enough to him to do him any harm whatsoever. He throws nearly invisible projectiles all the time while teleporting, while reflecting your projectiles, etc. His super makes the air explode (full screen) for 10 seconds...1/4 cheese damage even while blocking. Pure stupidity. Anyway, should you buy the import...it comes with trading cards which are pretty cool. Here are some scans: http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/7...can11ze.th.jpg http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/6...can37ll.th.jpg http://img365.imageshack.us/img365/2...can42oa.th.jpg |
Oswald is the card player right?
How are Shion and Momoko? I'm particularly interested in the new female characters. I hope Shermie hasn't taken a hit in quality this time around. |
PS2 version have an addition of seven characters from NGBC: Tung Fu Rue, Geese, Mr.Big, Robert, Hotaru, Mai and Ex Kyo (NGBC version). Shermie doesn't make appearance outside of dreammatch.
Oswald is the assassin using card as his weapon. |
2003 made up for their past mistakes in 2k1,2k2 and Neowave. XI is just perfect with a few newcomers and awesome combos. The OST also sounds great . I think its the best one i've heard since Evolution / 99 and 2k.
There isn't much to say. Its another 2d fighting game. I was hoping Atomiswave would really redo the sprites like guilty gear or different but no effort.. Now we got like 7 copy and pasted characters just to spice up the game more. Still, its a great game.. As for storyline, Alot of interesting shit is going on. Ash Crimson proves to everyone that he is more than just a random fighter >.>;;. I also appreciate Oswald's fighting style.. Its been TOO LONG since i played with that kind of character since Gambit but he'll do. I was able to pull off some nice combos with Super Cancels..He is too good. |
Ugh, bad loading times? I hope this isn't like Battle Colluseum where it loads in-between rounds when you switch characters, because that takes out all the fun..
|
I didn't have much trouble with NGBC's loading time but if its more worse , then i'll just wait for an xbox release =/..
|
What I don't understand is the fact they'll release certain games in America on certain systems, but in Japan they release the game for each consoles [not including GC here]. I know KoF isn't AS big as it is in Japan I bet, but still...there are fans here that would like to play and try it. I don't see why SNK America couldn't make limited quanities of the KoF. On the other hand, maybe they'll release KoF XI for the american ps2 as a package with another KoF that might come out in the future, like they did with 2002/2003 [which I just bought today finally]

It just hit me, if you're talking about before the fight then its supposed to be like that..I have a KOFXI arcade in a store by me and it shouldn't be any different.. Mangaki... the one from Kizuna Encounter? cause if its him then he's cheap. He was a cheap character back then and he still is . |
Yeah, if it's loading times before a fight, I'm cool with that, but if it's inbetween rounds, then that's just unholy!
|
Just burned it few mins ago. The last boss in KOF MI II was far from being hard to beat, glad the KOF last boss challenge is back. :)
BTW thanks for the covers =p |

Two combo videos. I'm done watching both KOFXI ps2 version combo videos and I really love Ex Kyo's Esaka song. Anyone who have the game will rip it? |
This game doesnt have ANY loading times at all , what are you on about O_o
|
Yeah I finally got a copy of the game and there are pretty much no loading times, so it's good.
On the topic of combo videos, if you go into training mode and set it to unlimited supers and press the L2 button, the computer will actually do complex dream cancel super combos.. It's good to watch those and learn cool combos. |

nice when you play in Team mode - you kill the fist opponent n the next round comes inmediately!! :D no waitings :) and Tbh I really like the intro to each battle I dont feel it like "loading" |
I haven't played with Kula Diamond since 2000, but since she's fire like many people say, I'll give it a try. My only concern is why they changed Terry's fighting style around. I was able to pull a few super cancels in 2k3 but now its a little complicated to do in the arcades >.<. I think it was a 5-6 hit combo with him alone, I haven't mastered him completely in this version. At least he still has buster wolf. Only not as crazy powerful like in SVC Chaos.

Hmmm I am seriously considering getting this game, however since I have an american Ps2, that might be a little hard. I have a question though...the swap disc, that wouldn't harm my ps2 in any way would it? I couldn't get a mod chip because I live near no one who can do that, so I would have to go with a swap disc. I'm sure there are people here who use it, so are their any dangers to using it?
|
I dont really bother with modchips so i have a fliptop instead. And no , there is no danger when using it.
- Open lid - place the swap disc - let it load - when it asks you to put the burned game in there, you replace the swap disc for the burned game. And.. thats that . You need to be careful on how you burn the game though. So keep that in mind. KOFXI works perfectly in mine. |
Well my ps2 is the last old generation version. But overall, it would be ok? I heard that the laser could get messed up, but it could just be a rumor.
|
Mine is old school too. I dont really own those slim ps2's. So you're good using the fliptop. If not, you're assed out. You could be saving a shitload of money. Tell you that much ;p.
|
Well, like most everyone here, I'm in love with Oswald, even if he doesn't have that much of combo variation he's still a very good fighter.
Anyone besides me trying to learn how to kick ass with Momoko? She's freaking cute, so I just need to learn how to kick everyone's ass with her. And now the bad things...what the hell happend with Kasumi, Eiji and Malin? I mean...they are totally shit...Not even the CPU uses them. Not to mention Elisabeth too, talk about useless character. And to finish, anyone got Geese in Challange mode yet? If yes, can you give some decent combos? |
Haha, Kaze.
All the thing you mentionned are the opposite. Oswald can do many thing in this game. Elisabeth, Kasumi, Eiji and Malin aren't shit but Momoko is. She have short range and she deal too much damage. Crappy character. At least, she's not lame as Bao. I have a question that is off topic? Is it possible to mod those new small PS2? |

... but back to Terry, just Dream Cancel the Buster Wolf into Power Stream and behold the damage. XD |
Malin is still crap IMO, I mean, she was the best character in '03 but now she's just....nothing, totally useless. I know I haven't played that much with her yet, but she isn't that good like she was in '03.
Kasumi too. Her qcf+LP/SP takes so much time to activate that I can take a nap before it hits. I would be good if she was the '99 version. xD Elisabeth is useless and I'll never admit she's decent or anything. She has some nice attacks but I just think she's a mix of Vanessa and Kula but missing something. |
