Help with Apache

Hi there. I've installed the server this morning but, whatever I do I can't run it properly. Installation is normal, to port 80 and default settings, but when it finishes, I try to run the default test webpage at 127.0.0.1 and nothing happens. Browser stay loading forever.

Also, I ran the test configuration and just showed the message 'sintax Ok', so I suppose it's right.

My error log is clean:

[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Apache/2.2.2 (Win32) configured -- resuming normal operations
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Server built: Apr 29 2006 18:32:31
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Parent: Created child process 216
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Child 216: Child process is running
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Child 216: Acquired the start mutex.
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Child 216: Starting 250 worker threads.
[Sun Jun 18 10:54:57 2006] [notice] Child 216: Starting thread to listen on port 80.

Any idea why I can't run any web page from my PC?

Firewall?

Yes, many firewall applications will, naturally, prevent all sorts of access. The only question I would raise, though, is about the "loading forever." Does your browser eventually return a "host not found" message, or does it really keep loading forever? If the latter, try uninstalling and reinstalling Apache. (Which would hopefully fix things.) If the former, it's probably a firewall issue.

Firewall? I don't think so. I just have a router. No software firewalls and the Windows XP one is totally disabled. On the router (Speedtouch) I've redirected all incoming traffic on port 80 to my machine. The most strage is I've done the same with port 443 and Emule webserver (in order to see my status from office) and it runs well. :(

I reinstalled again Apache but nothing. The same problem again. I don't think my router can be the problem, because my PC would be stupid if it redirects ots traffic from 127.0.0.1 to router to then get it back. Am I wrong?

Did you try with localhost? Did you try with your computer's IP adress? If you're behind a router, it should be something like 192.168.*.*. Also, try to append :80 (for port 80) to the adress.

If you're behind a router, you need to make sure that port 80 is forwarded to your computer's own network IP if you're trying to run a webserver.

I'll check that about 192.168.* 'cos it sounds good ;). Append :80 to web address is not necesary (I think, tell me if I'm wrong) 'cos I'm using http:// so it should redirect automatically to port 80.

This afternoon I tell ya more. Thank you everyone for the answers :D

Hi again. I tried, as it was said, with 192.168.x.x adress but same the problem. I'll try to disconnect my router this weekend and see what happens. Meanwhile, ideas, comments, suggestion are welcomed.
