Pirates Of The Caribbean 2 Soundtrack

Hi there!
As you may know, the Tracklist of the Pirates Of The Caribbean : Dead Man's Chest Soundtrack has just been released, and the most surprising thing is:
it contains a Trance Remix of He´s a Pirate (made by Tiesto)!
Quote:

To celebrate the release of this summer's blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Disney invited Tiësto to remix the title theme 'He's A Pirate' into a progressive epic trance anthem.

Tiësto was honoured with this invitation and produced a trance anthem as well as an orchestral remix with the original euphoric orchestral break. Death Man's Chest: Remixes cd-single contains the Tiësto remix, a Tiësto radio edit and remixes by Friscia & Lamboy, Pelo Verde, Pete n' Red and Chris Joss. Radio edits of Tiësto and Pete n' Red Jolly Roger remixes are included on the Promotional CD.
I have nothing against Trance, but I think it doesn´t fit in the orchestral, epic things that Hans Zimmer did!
To build your own opinion, you should listen to that Remix!

So long as the film's a lark, and the score contains a catchy theme or two (be it GHOSTWRITTEN, PLUNDERED, PLAGIARISED or SURGICALLY EXCISED), I don't care about the trance addition.

Edit: And now I remember why trance deters so many from electronic music.

Aardark Jun 17, 2006 11:16 AM

It's not very good. I like some trance, but here, it looks like they just took the original song and added some noise over it.

Kairyu Jun 17, 2006 11:58 AM

Sounds terrible to me, all I hear is scratchy noise/bass and what I think is a faint tune of "He's a Pirate." Meh, it could be the low quality; I'm guessing it was recorded from a mpeg or something.

It was lossless recorded from a 96kb/s asf stream to a 96kb/s MP3!
It´s not the Quality, it´s the song!

:aargh: my ears!

I don't see how they are going to put this track in the film. Maybe the last song on the credits (the bit that no-one watches). I sure hope they don't play this at all though, i hate trance.

ava lilly Jun 17, 2006 05:25 PM

the only way I could see this being a part of the film at all, is if the plot of the second movie was some how a crossover with a tossed script for a shoddy cartoon version of the matrix.

this is probably just them helping out some guy who makes trance remixes get exposure whilst promoting the movie at the same time.

Atomic Duck Jun 19, 2006 09:09 PM

ouch... I had to turn it off halfway and listen to the original "He's a Pirate" and cry over what once was =(

I just hope the movie's still good and the rest of the soundtrack is more like what they had in the original than that bloody mess.
I still can't wait for PotC2 though... which probably goes without saying, since PotC was my favorite movie right after the three LotRs.

How is this at all like "He's A Pirate"?

Cellius Jun 20, 2006 05:37 PM

I stopped listening before it got halfway through. The samples from the rest of the score sounded it pretty good though.

Why is this good.

Majin yami Jun 21, 2006 02:08 PM

Because like the other POTC, it'll be awesome. That was an awesome OST.

Majin yami Jun 22, 2006 02:15 AM

Yep, and I ignored it seeing as how I don't care for technical aspects of soudtracks, only whether they sound good in and out of the context of the film. POTC did this and therefore, I liked it.

SpendusWorks Jun 24, 2006 12:24 AM

Meh...I'll stick with the orchestrated stuff. This sounds like POTC on an acid trip...which would actually be pretty cool. :D

Wow, I can't believe they put this on the official soundtrack alongside the work of Hans Zimmer. It's not terrible, but it doesn't belong on the official soundtrack. In the samplings I've heard, you can hardly pick up the melody from "He's A Pirate," anyway.

Ah well. Rest of the music sounds great.

As much as I don't really care about what Christian Clemmensen over at Filmtracks thinks, I couldn't help but laugh at his review. It's so catty!

First, Bruckheimer and Zimmer's attempt to put swashbuckling music on steroids for the modern generation still doesn't work if you subscribe to classical notions of music for the high seas.

While listening to 'Dinner is Served', I suddenly remembered what part of the movie it was from, and started laughing.

imho. i didn't enjoy this soundtrack as much as the first one.
some of the tracks had too much of the fantastical and not pirates feel to it.

I agree - it had to go with the movie though.

SPOILER:

...Which, if you've seen it, has a much darker and more dreary feel than the first. I didn't like it very much.

Sin Ansem Jul 9, 2006 09:19 AM

That He's a Pirate remix is even shittier than the crappy synth in the KH2 edition.

Says the soudtrack's already out.

I like the Kracken's theme as well as Jack's and Davy's themes.

Cobra Commander Jul 10, 2006 04:09 PM

I dunno I thought the soundtrack was lack luster from the first one. The first one was almost driven by the music like when barbossa chased after will turner on the interceptor.

The only tracks I thought were good in this one were the ones that were rehashed from the first movie.

Prinnydood Jul 13, 2006 06:08 PM

Love the soundtrack for both movies..dont like that Trance remix though...Not a fan of trance to begin with and the sounds were just annoying in my opinion..
