Good FTP program?

Hello

i have been looking for a Good FTP program that can do the " downloading " job at least , i used like 3 programs like Smart FTP ( triel time finished ) , and cuteFTP which can't connect to anything at all " even thier own servers " and some random one called FTPEXE which the setup for it was Flash5..

i would love to grab a good FTP program that's free to use or at least have limitations but i still can Download with it

Thanks in Advance :superhappy:

I use SmartFTP personally, but since you didn't mention it I'd try FlashFXP.

By the way, questions like this belong in Behind the Music, just for next time.

Have you tried BulletProof FTP yet? It was my first FTP client, and I found it useful.

These days, I only use SmartFTP though. But it's interesting that you note a trial period for that one. I thought there were no limitations for SmartFTP.

well there's a trial, but even after the trial you can still use it like before there's just a pop up that show to buy the full version when you load the program

edit: i just check in the about section, and it's free for all personnal , education and non-commercial use, for any commercial use yu have a 30days trial and you have to buy it after...

the pop up thing happen in the 1.5 version, I justsaw that there's a 2.0 version I just upgraded and will see XD

Flash FXP

Everything in it just feels right, like FTP clients are supposed to look that way..

I used to use LeechFTP since I can remember, but switched to FileZilla about 8 months ago, and haven't looked back.

Just use Filezilla. Clean, straightforward, small, free. No unnecessary bullshit.

FileZilla server, free and easy to use. Hell, this was the first FTP server I've ever set up and it was pretty easy. I see no reason to use anything else (yet!).

I use WS FTP_LE but since I haven't used anything else, I can't compare it to anything. Still, it's always worked well for me. It's completely free and very straightforward.

flashfxp of course :)

CuteFTP: Its Cute! :p I find the interface friendly and easy to use. I also love using it for editing the mods and php files for my forums!

I use SmartFTP 1.0.x, which has served me quite well sans an ouccasional popup message when I started it during "business hours". The more recent versions have only given me headaches. I thought it was on olversion.com, but it's conspicuously absent, which is a shame.

What is the good FTP program for mac, then? And is it free? :)

Echo Aug 17, 2006 08:36 PM

On the windows side (no idea about Macs):

I think FlashFXP is the best. I personally like the repackaged "scene edition". They have presets that I like, a nicer interface (promt wise). If you want it just google FlashFXP Scene Edition. It is a crack however, so if you feel wrong with stealing you can buy it.

As an FTP server, I use a copy of Bullet Proof FTP Server that was posted on the forums by someone like three years ago.

I use flashFXP. I always felt the layout and everything set up on it was just perfect and incredibly easy to use. It really can't get any more straight forward.

Only problem is that I can't find a good crack/serial for it. I have this universal crack that basically resets the clock, but that only works for an older version I have. I can't find a new version crack.

But I definitely recommend flashfxp.

cocomonk22 Aug 19, 2006 05:01 AM

I haven't used it, but flashfxp seems to be the most used and most preferred FTP program. I use WS_FTP Pro, which works for my purposes.
