Incredible Problem
So I have a strange problem, and I have no idea what's causing it. First off, watch this video which shows what's happening.
Download So.. what? This first happened a few days ago, then yesterday, and now today. I haven't changed anything hardware, software, driver, settings, or OS wise for weeks. While the screen is gone, my computer is definitely alive, though not fully. I had music playing this time, and my music carried on like nothing was going wrong. The times when it did come back, my display was partially frozen, as in I could move the mouse but that was it. I tried moving a scroll bar but it didn't do anything. Then a few flashes later it suddenly updated, as you see in the vid. Also you can see in the top left corner something. That's actually a chunk of the firefox window I had open ;_;. To fix the problem I just reboot and it's fine. I checked my temps after booting back in and my CPU is a cool 38C. My graphics card I can't check the temperature of, though sticking my finger in my case and onto it, it's nowhere near hot. So what's happening ;_; |
Do you have a spare video card that you could swap out for your current one?
That's really all I have to offer right now ;__; |
sometimes video cards go bad without overheating.. I had one that would only freeze up when you'd open up a dropdown box...
I would advise you to double check that the monitor power cable is secure, the data cable is tight against the monitor and the video card, and that the refresh rate you're using on your PC is within the monitors limits. good luck. |
After doing the above, you may just want to reconnect the (I'd just do them all) power connectors in your computer. Try again.
If the issue is just a few days old, maybe just doing a system restore could do the trick. |
Looks like the video cable might be loose or wearing out. Before you shell out cash on a new card you might try replacing the cable if it's not embedded in your monitor.
