Chrono Trigger, one of the most memorable RPG during SNES era. I still remember how I played the game numerous times before I lost the cartidge. Many fans definitely agree, the music of this game is truly masterpiece, one of the most notable work of Yasunori Mitsuda who actually made his debut in this game.

Unfortunately, Mitsuda himself rarely released arranged album of Chrono Trigger, contrary to the numerous fan arrangement you probably found is doujin site such as OCremix. The fanbase of Chrono Trigger in Japan is also quite huge, I have encountered lot of Japanese doujin group sites using chrono trigger theme in many of their release such as MintJam, or Project Scytia.

Here I'm lucky enough to get my hand on this 8 tracks Doujin album. This album features rock-almost metal arrangement of 8 music from Chrono Trigger. Despite my least interest toward rock-metal music, I found this album nice actually. Most of the tracks accompanied by the use of metal guitar that might remind you to Black Mages album.

02. Reckless Robo Army Johnny. It's the coziest and oasis in the entire
track. It has nuance of jazzy like in the original version. The 06 Last Battle is the arrangement of World Revolution, the boss music played when fighting Lavos Core, this track is powerful. I salute this group for able imitate the continous crystal-sound-like in the background which is the essence of the track.

The 8th track, the ending of Chrono Trigger which I am sure loved by all fan of the series. The arrangement is melodious, spiritful and truly nice treat for you who are looking for full band arrangement of Chrono Trigger ending. I like the 5th track as well. It's unique blend of Schala's theme which sound very celtic like with metal arrangement.

My complain would be the amount of tracks they put in this album. I wish they put more songs, the performance is really good. I also question whey they dont perform Chrono Trigger's main theme? I mean, an arranged album without including the main theme? It's one of the flaw of this album in my opinion. It's the main reason I give 3/5 for this album.

My conclusion, this is a mini album that should be loved by Mitsuda fans. I suggest you to pick this up and listen the music by yourself.

3/5
