Suggestion: ChocoRemoveTheFuckingUnusedSmileys

:ninja: :doggy: :lolsign:  :eyebrow: :savepoint: :1zhelp: :argue: :iamwithstupid: :sneaky::beer: :alcoholic::dopey_love: :asthanos: :guitarist: :borg: :aargh:

Want to save bandwidth? Hey here's an awesome idea. Remove these disgustingly lame smilies so they're no longer ruining the boards. These are hardly ever used, or they're used by Mush/newbies/Aard.

And oh my god I didn't even know :naughty: existed. That is just fucking scary, guys. Seriously I never see these used by anyone who isn't an uninformed dumbass. You could replace them with at least half decent ones (like pom's) and save a bunch of time. The rest are okay, I guess. It kinda sucks how Acer is the only one who can make usable smilies here without them sucking ass. I don't know where the original set come from but it's pretty dry.

I also would like to nominate http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/930/gonk2kc.gif for a place in the garbagesmiley tree because the lack of http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/930/gonk2kc.gif depresses me.

We SOOOO NEED this smiley.

While lolsign is good, this one is better.

Huh, do I use a lot of smilies? I actually made a thread like this in the moderator hut about a month ago.

Also, removing smilies wouldn't 'save bandwidth', but yeah, I agree that most of these are pretty lame and should be get rid of.

We could, but I don't know how I'd feel about blatantly copying the whole smiley list of Something Awful.

The god damn dog doesn't even run on my quicklist, how big a fail is that :(

A lot of people use some of those, especially  and :lolsign:, so I'd argue we should just remove them because they're so crap.
Cept maybe  because it's so friendly.

Yeah there's been plenty of times when I've felt the need to have an epileptic fit masturbating smiley in my posts!

Not to mention they seperate sentences which is annoying as hell.

Kilroy Jun 14, 2006 06:27 AM

:dopey_love: should stay, but replace it it : love :, for the love of everything sober and drunk. This makes sense, people. Scratch the rest of them, but keep :dopey_love:

I agree with this ten hundred percent!

: love : = = craaaap.
: love : = :dopey_love: = not craaaap!

Musharraf Jun 14, 2006 06:53 AM

What is the big deal with all those smilies. You are not forced to use them for composing your posts, you know. And since we've already discovered that smilies are not wasting bandwidth (??), I don't really know why we should start removing them, hell, I'm all for adding more smilies. Smilies, smilies, smilies =D

(Is it smilies or smileys, btw?)

I don't use a lot of smilies, fyi, and being named together with 'newbs' isn't too awesome, either >=(

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Jun 14, 2006 07:36 AM

Getting rid of Elixir would save a whole lot more bandwidth then getting rid of the smileys. I like a lot of those smileys and as Mush said, nobody is forcing you to use them.

We should just import most of the SA smilie collection. They're way better than most of our collection and I wouldn't have to upload the ones I use to imageshack/socket anymore.

You'll have to pay me http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/5750/emot10bux5uk.gif for each SA smilie, though.

Haha, that's actually quite a good idea. Let people upload their favorite smilies for money. Maybe that could help bobo running this server ^^

Oh, you mean exactly what SA does?

Kaleb.G Jun 14, 2006 02:35 PM

I would like a total revamp of the smiliey set, with a review of each smiley. Most importantly, I recommend modifying the keywords for them to more accurately describe the situation they would be used in.

Replace with animated :rabite: and I approve.
Though it's not like lurker and I haven't already rallied for rabite smilies for ages now.

Getting rid of Shin would result in Welcome Welcome becoming as inactive as MW. Such a win-win situation there.

The "saving bandwidth" thing was just an excuse. It's not going to save bandwidth, but half of the ones I listed either aren't used appropriately, make one look stupid, or turn the sentence into malformed rubbish. Give me one instance where :ninja: fits into a sentence and doesn't make you look like a tard. Oh wait, upon preview it appears as if this one also stretched the sentence. Perfect.

But yeah, I'm all for Secret of Mana smilies. The animated ones, of course. You really can't go wrong with rabites.

Edit: God, this post looks terrible. This is what I'm talking about. If anyone's going to try and attempt to get their point across, sticking something such that ninja, the gigantic grin tard, and the lolsign in their posts, it just ruins the entire effect. If they're not needed, it won't hurt to replace them.

Franky Mikey Jun 14, 2006 05:56 PM

How selfless of you to go on a campain to prevent people from looking stupid. I'm sure the resident tards will be thankful.

Free.User Jun 14, 2006 06:24 PM

The only one I want right now is  ... what happened to it?

Lord Styphon Jun 14, 2006 07:32 PM

I removed it in relation to that thread Aardark made.

No, it isn't coming back.
