Shit! What do I do now?

Ok, so I have this external usb hard drive enclosure which I had been having a lot of trouble with. The original problem was that every time I plugged it into a computer, I had to activate the disk via Windows' Disk Management utility.
Yesterday I got my tablet PC, and I was trying to activate it. Unfortunately, it had been 2 months since I used that drive, so I accidentally selected the "Convert to Basic Disk" option, instead of "Mark as Active," or whatever the option is.
The drive has not been formatted. It has only been converted to a basic disc. What can I do to salvage all 160+ GB of data?

*bump*

Anyone have any thoughts about how I can recover this disc?

Besides the obvious recommendations such as EasyRecovery Pro and TestDisk, I can't think of much. Don't get your hopes up, though, because these will probably not be able to recover anything, since this disk conversion is much more severe than a simple drive format.

Makes me wonder why you had to active this drive in the first place, though. I reckon your drive was using a wrong disk type from the start so next time you use an external drive, make sure you have set it up properly. Even though it might sound reasonable, an external disk should not be of the dynamic type from my knowledge.

How so??? It took mere milliseconds to make that conversion. Simple formats take much longer.
The data is all still there. I think the disc just got some tag or label changed.
