Metal Saga

So anyone here bought Atlas' new RPG? It's a post apocalytpic RPG where you have a character of no background go off and do w/e you want him to in order to become stronger.

It has a bunch of endings and such. Anyone play it yet?

I completed it a few days ago with a play time of about 45 or 50 hours. Excellent game and one of my favorites on the platform. It reminds of Earthbound with its quirky humor and surprising depth. It might seem average in some ways, and it certainly isn't perfect, but it's definitely more than the sum of its parts and possibly the most addictive RPG I've played this generation. I intend to go back and try to defeat all of the outlaws. That is if I can just figure out why the encounter with Eagle 1 won't initiate.

This game desperately needs an official strategy guide. Unfortunately I don't think all the slipshod reviews will help to that end. Too many folks wrote off the game as unfocused and mediocre simply because it isn't very linear and story-driven as most JRPGs tend to be. Not to mention the lack of flashy graphics.

Initially, I was glad to hear it was getting a localization. But it kind of came out and immediately got lost in the shuffle of quality post-holiday RPG's, especially without being attached to a known franchise already. Once I'm done with messing around with Suikoden V and Wild Arms 4, I'll probably go ahead and rent this one, to see if I want to invest the time in it. Seeing JRPG's with parties of more than 3 people is always a highly positive sign for me.

And yeah...The negative reviews probably haven't helped its' cause. Outside of Megavolt's post, I haven't seen any kind of outside enthusiasm for the game.

I liked the music for this one at least...Plenty of quality rock tracks, which is pretty rare for RPG's, outside of the Megaten-related games and Sakuraba's works.

Also, wasn't it originally supposed to be paired up with Steambot Chronicles?

I'm enjoying it so far, but I don't like the lack of story and the fact that EVERYTHING reolves around money :(
