What's a good present for someone who's turning 50?

So my boss is turning 50 soon and I want to give him a present.
Any suggestions? I believe he likes to travel :cow:

A tie?
A pair of shoes?
A young mistress?

A travel bag... or anything that has something to do with his hobby. Maybe new cloth for adventuring? Or a Swiss-Knife-hybrid-flash-disk?;)

A gun. Or Depends adult diapers. Gag gifts are fun.

He is your boss, I guess it depends on your relationship with him. If it's pretty friendly and close, I would say gag gifts all day long. If it's pretty professional, I say a nice Birthday card and maybe a gift certificate to a place he likes to eat at.

hmm... how about an iPod shuffle? since he likes travel, maybe you want to consider giving him mp3 players so he could listen music while travelling. But I think it's bit too expensive for a birthday present.

Maybe a gift certificate to his favorite store would suffice. If you feel more comfortable around your boss, perhaps the joke gifts that others have mentioned may be more interesting.

I'm fairly new to the job, so I can't give him any joke gifts...

No. Hard Pass. Jun 8, 2006 10:40 PM

Someone who's turning 18.

COUNT IT.

Since you're new to the job, he probably doesn't know your character too well yet, which mean memoriable gifts won't have a strong effect.

One off, expendable gifts are useful and when presented with a well written card, it can highlight your practicalness and attention to detail to your boss' personal likes.

With this, I think a specific gift vouchers like valet car wash or movie pass will do.

Rogaine!

Give him a gift card to his favorite store. As others have said, it all depends on how well you know him.

Gift card to Barnes and Noble perhaps? What does he like? I don't think shopping for anyone 50 should be any different than shopping for anyone 30... just depends on his hobbies.

I hate getting Gift cards. Why would you want to limit the store that the person can spend the amount of money that you gave him? Maybe people feel weird about giving just money? Don't.
Think about it. How would you feel if someone gave you some cash? I can't fathom anyone who would be against it. Just put it in a birthday card.
But thats just if you are considering the giftcard idea.

Personally, if you know anything about your boss then get him a book. Books are really touching items if you get one that they'd have an interest in reading. People tend to keep books for their whole life in most cases.
