GFF Speed

How's everyone's speed on GFF? The server is located in Chicago. More long haul fiber runs through Chicago than any other US city and should work well with our international audience. Also, the server is a little faster than our old one and a lot cheaper!

Dopefish Mar 2, 2006 03:08 PM

Speed is fine. Of course, we won't know for sure until the site is being hammered by hundreds of people aching for their ChocoJournal and their drama. ;)

Clamjouster Mar 2, 2006 03:09 PM

yeah it seems like the speed is the same as before... if it is faster I can't really tell. I live in Venezuela as you can see so I am part of that international audience.

Miles Mar 2, 2006 03:10 PM

I noticed a bit of lag when 100+ guests all tried to register at the same time, but now it's gone. :kitsune:

Terra Mar 2, 2006 03:10 PM

It's exactly the same as before. At least it appears so from Hungary.

No. Hard Pass. Mar 2, 2006 03:11 PM

It's flying for me, cap'n.

Free.User Mar 2, 2006 03:12 PM

Well the old GFF was really fast, so there wasn't much of a potential improvement.

Roph Mar 2, 2006 03:15 PM

I'm browsing GFF faster than another PC on my network's FTP server.

Sir VG Mar 2, 2006 03:17 PM

This is an awesome server. Good work bobo!

IdleChill Mar 2, 2006 03:18 PM

Cheaper and faster? Sounds like this should have been done long ago! =D

Niekon Mar 2, 2006 03:22 PM

things seem to be running fine when viewing from Disneyland... good to go ^_^

Diversion Mar 2, 2006 03:24 PM

Running at a nice speed right now, glad to be back bobo!

Varium Mar 2, 2006 03:24 PM

Everythings a-ok for me, still damn fast.

Little Shithead Mar 2, 2006 03:26 PM

Well, I'm browsing on a shitty SunRay terminal at my university, and it's loading as fast as the goddamned thing can display it.

Otherwise, I notice nothing really all that different.

SmartM Mar 2, 2006 03:37 PM

Works fine from Belgium, I even have the feeling that it is a bit faster.

Freelance Mar 2, 2006 03:40 PM

I'm getting tremendous lag. I mean, it's taking me five minutes to load just one page!

Just kidding. I haven't noticed much improvement over the old speeds, so everything's fine.

THE END.

Do you like ferrets?

Grawl Mar 2, 2006 03:41 PM

Didn't have any problems. It's fast as ever.

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Mar 2, 2006 03:48 PM

Seems to be very fast, and didn't even give me any problems when the hundreds of people first logged on to register. Good job, and hope to see you around the boards.

Kairyu Mar 2, 2006 03:50 PM

It appears to be very fast, though I can't see any difference in loading speed from the old gff.

Neo-Zacar Mar 2, 2006 04:07 PM

Tracert says ev1 something has changed to steadfast something.

As a result ping has dropped by ~3.

Sword Serenity Mar 2, 2006 04:15 PM

*speeds in and speeds on out of here*

Nice to see you got things together, Rich. I hope the same goes for everything else offline too.

Musharraf Mar 2, 2006 04:18 PM

Server is in Chicago, Musharraf is in Germany, and so far, the speed is very good.

Arbok Mar 2, 2006 04:19 PM

This one does appear slightly faster than the old server, but like others noted the previous server was pretty fast in itself so there wasn't a whole lot of room for improvment.

Elixir Mar 2, 2006 04:49 PM

Server in Chicago, Elixir in New Zealand. I can't tell the difference between the older gff and the newer gff's speed, but I presume this is faster than previously.

Then again, it is meant to be $1350 worth.
