Everquest? or World of Warcraft?

I was thinking about starting a MMO and i was wondering what you guys think is better everquest II and its expansion or world of warcraft and its expansion?

There's more MMORPGs out there than just EQ or WoW. You've got Star Wars Galaxies for example, and Guild Wars (which has no monthly fees, by the way) recently released an expansion that can be played alone or combined with the original.

oh man i totally forgot about guild wars. A friend of mine has it. Star wars has like 15 expansions doesnt it? (not literally 15)

Josiah Jun 2, 2006 04:48 PM

I don't know how many exactly, but I wager several.

I also forgot Final Fantasy XI.

I had final fantasy XI, didnt like it, so thats out of the question.

it all depends on what type of MMO experience you are looking for. Do you want to play solo for as long as possible and then have to team up with other folks? Do you like being forced into team situations (FFXI comes to mind after lvl 10)? Are you in a rush to ca your character as quickly as you can? Et cetera... all stuff to be taken into consideration before even going the MMO route... ^_^

But for me personally? I'm a WoW fan... I did the FFXI thing for almost a year and got bored of it halfway through. With WoW I'm able to just keep creating different characters at no extra charge... and then I get the experience from all sorts of different perspectives.

As much as I hate to recommend WoW, if you are really gonna choose between just WoW and EQ2. Pick WoW. Just about everything EQ2 does, WoW does better. The only thing really good about EQ2 is more races and that every race can be any class.

I quit WoW to go back to City of Heroes/Villains though, cause it feels alot less time consuming.

A friend of mine had COH but wouldnt run on his computer right so he gave it to me, forgot i had it. Maybe ill give it a shot to.

I do have to ask this question then... how many races are available within EQ2?
Currently WoW has eight races, soon to expand to ten...

Lets see Dwarf, Gnome, Halfling, Human, Half Elf, Wood Elf, High Elf, Dark Elf, Troll, Ogre, Ratonga, Iksar, Kerran, and Froglok. I think that's all of them and supposedly they're adding more with the next expansion. But as of right now that makes 14.

One thing, if you do like it and you want to make Villains as well. You can upgrade your account with a City of Villains CD key and it only costs one fee to have access to both. They did a unique thing with that, either game can work as a stand alone but if you play both it's only one fee. Although if you're just going to play CoH, you might take quite awhile patching the game since both games use the same patcher. You have to download all the CoV content regardless of whether you're going to play that side or not. Of course if you bought CoV and installed that, that would solve that problem since it being newer obviously has all the CoH files and most of the CoV stuff.

Go with RF online! It may be a little boring with quests and such, but part taking in the events is enjoyable, so I've heard.
