wii specs?

http://www.codenamerevolution.com/?p=740

this seems interesting. while i'm not so sure the processor would be 2+ ghz, i think that it could be a very decent processor... i don't really know what to expect there.

the graphics card actually seems like it could be legit - ati is developing the graphics for the wii (unlike the gcn) and it would make sense that they would add 4 more pixel pipelines and programmable T&L to the GPU.

i don't know about the legitimacy of the article though. it would be pretty cool if it were true, but there's no telling.

Doubt it. I don't think the processor will be over 2 GHZ, and those graphics card specs seem fabricated.

Also, ATI did do the graphics chip for GC....

nope, artx did the graphics chip for gamecube, but then ati acquired them and had nintendo put their logo on all gamecubes.

edit: in the original "interview" with ubisoft france there, he never says the chip is 2-2.2ghz. he merely says it performs like an athlon xp 2800 or whatever, which could imply that it's a much lower-clocked part with good efficiency and no overhead from windows or another os. i seriously doubt it's 2ghz too, even if that report were 100% true.

oooh programmable t and l would rock maybe with embedded pre fetch cash also

I hope with the amount of rendering pipelines and the wii only running at native 640x480 (or 720x480 for NTSC) that AA will be used in all games as at that res it shouldn’t be a performance hit (maybe that’s why they are only looking at 480p ^^)

Actually, the gamecube uses the r300 gpu, which is based on artx's "flipper chip". they however kept the "Flipper" moniker for the gamecube iteration of the r300.

Yet another article with ambiguous info on the Wii technical specs. No useful discussion will come from this. Closed.
