Movie Munchies

What are your favorite overpriced foods at theatre? The tiny hot dogs? The deadly butter-smothered popcorn? The Icee?

Not only that, what foods do you munch on while watching movies at home, on your PC or on the television?

I'd say popcorn's my movie staple food.

Agent Olive Mar 3, 2006 11:42 PM

I usually have butter-smothered popcorn along with an Icee. Simple but effective.

Son of Wiseness Mar 3, 2006 11:56 PM

Popcorn. Popcorn with a lot of butter on it.

nazpyro Mar 3, 2006 11:57 PM

I do enjoy the basic uber-buttery popcorn, with large Coke (orange soda if possible, but this is a rarity). Sometimes, I'll get candy, and it would usually either be Twizzlers or Skittles.

Rockgamer Mar 4, 2006 12:04 AM

At the movies I'll usually get popcorn or nachos, something to drink, and any kind of chocolate candy (usually Butterfinger BBs or Buncha Crunch). At home though, I usually don't eat anything at all while watching movies, especially if I'm watching something for the first time. If I do eat something, it'll just be whatever is around the house, like chips or cookies or something.

Acro-nym Mar 4, 2006 12:04 AM

Currently, I guess, I'd have to say my favorite movie munchie is popcorn with melted butter and cheddar salt. It used to be a Crunch bar, but then the local theater shifted to Buncha Crunch.

At home, we lack the creamy, warm melted butter. So, the popcorn is butterless.

Snowknight Mar 4, 2006 12:07 AM

I used to like extremely buttery popcorn, but now I like lightly buttered popcorn. Generally, when I go to a movie theatre, I only buy popcorn and a drink--the drink varies: sometimes, coke; other times, sprite (or whatever else the theatre has). If I'm feeling particularly ambitious, I'll get some sort of candy that the movie theatre sells. (That case also occurring in the presence of extra money.)

Lady Miyomi Mar 4, 2006 12:08 AM

I usually eat popcorn. I tried the "lots of butter" kinda and ended up choking on all the excess butter. I prefer nachos and soda. I can't eat candy.

Chaotic Mar 4, 2006 03:15 AM

A Medium Cherry Coke. Everytime.

I don't feel like wasting more than $5 at the movies anyway, so why not? Our movie theater offers free refils anyway, so i'm getting a good deal here.

I usually don't have popcorn... Only if someone else paid for it. I'm such a cheap ass.

doodle Mar 4, 2006 11:22 AM

I have recently come to love Kettle Corn - it's like popcorn that is cooked with sugar so it has a lightly sweet flavour. Really very tasty. I don't like butter, though, so I prefer plain and salted over buttered.

As far as movie candies go, those little minty nonpareils are my favourite. I can't remember the brand name at the moment.

JackTheRipper Mar 4, 2006 12:59 PM

I'll usually buy a popcorn or a sour patch kids' with a soda.

Eleo Mar 4, 2006 01:02 PM

When Tails and I went to the movies we had popcorn and soda.

Wie romantisch!

Double Post:
Oh yeah just would like to say I think everything movie theaters sell tastes like shit.

wishfire Mar 4, 2006 01:08 PM

^ Fully agreed that it tastes horrible. I don't go to the movies often, but when I do I'll normally sneak a candy bar or something like that in. The nice insanely buttered popcorn bit was my thing for a while until I was forced to move and now I can't find a place that does it decently.

seanne Mar 4, 2006 01:19 PM

The nothing worse than going to the cinema only to be constantly interrupted by idiots going through bags of potato chips or (paper) bags of sweets. Happens all too often.

I usually don't eat anything at the cinema. Perhaps I'll have a can of soda or something but that's pretty much it.

Diversion Mar 4, 2006 01:19 PM

I have a small town of about 40k people and know a lot of people, including most workers at both theatres. Fortunately, they don't give a damn if I bring anything in, so my stealth ended a while ago. I found a good, long-lasting combination to be a box of Buncha Crunch, Raisinettes (think I spelled it right), and a king size orange soda from McDonalds.

They stopped selling Buncha Crunch at the theatres here, but I would always get that. I don't order popcorn while at the movies since I don't often finish it. I did find the nachos good despite the price.

Right there is what I usually always get at the movies.

Though if I have a bit of extra cash, I may buy some nachos (but they're always so damn expensive...)

munchkin13 Mar 4, 2006 01:59 PM

When I go out to the cinemas I munch on pop corn and nachos. But when I'm at home watching a film I eat pizza.

Angel Mar 4, 2006 02:09 PM

At the theatre I usually take some pop corn or chips. At home I usually stick to cookies or anything with chocolate... I adooooooore chocolate.

Syndrome Mar 4, 2006 02:51 PM

Popcorn with butter taste.
Chips are too fatty, and they are too filling, if you know what I mean.
Also, Popcorn goes great with Pepsi!

Megalith Mar 4, 2006 02:54 PM

Nothing.

Who the hell would pay $6 for popcorn at a theater.

I usually just sneak in a bowl of rice.

elwe Mar 4, 2006 04:02 PM

I usually go for the popcorn, and I always pour in some salt, as if that super-buttery popcorn wasn't unhealthy enough. It's a good thing that I don't go to the movies often! As much as I hate getting ripped off over a cup of ridiculously over-priced pop, I usually end up getting some as well, since I need something to rinse down that salty, buttery treat.

audrgn Mar 4, 2006 05:22 PM

good ol' popcorn when watching movies. at the theaters though everything is overpriced so nothing.

Living Legend Mar 4, 2006 05:26 PM

The theater here doesn't have much of a choice with snacks. I usually get blue Sour Straws and a large coke. The sad thing is, buying those two things cost more than the tickets themselves which are around 7.50

The Wise Vivi Mar 4, 2006 06:29 PM

My favorites are buttered popcorn, Junior Mints, and Cherry Coke.
