Princess Peach/Mario world theme room

So we're eagerly awaiting the arrival of my second daughter, which should be any day now. And we've just got into a new apartment where the our girls will have their own room. So my girlfriend and I have decided that we'd make a project out of decorating their room. Now everyone has done the whole princess thing for their daughter(s), but we want to do everything Princess Peach and mushroom kingdom related!

So do you guys have any good ideas that are relatively simple to do? We're going to start off by somehow crafting SMB clouds around the top of the walls nad maybe painting some vines here and there. Eventually we'll have baby Peach and Daisy cosplay, heh.

Get a potted plant that has a long vertical steam with regularly spaced leaves, with something as close to a piranha plant head at the top as possible. And/or, place some completely vertical and regular vines up the walls.

Definitely place obstacles your children have to learn to climb up and over and eventually jump up and over.

Install a button which, through alchemy, turns their toy blocks into money and their money into toy blocks for a predetermined number of seconds. Money they touch and insert into their person should not change back into blocks at the end of the time limit.

Question blocks...

train them to gather coins as soon as possible.

This room is an awesome idea, by the way.

For question blocks, go here.

Feed them to a dinosaur.

Get a fat plumber and his brother to hang out in there all day jumping up and down on stuff.

Do you not think Mario is a little passe these days? I thought all the kids were into happy slapping now?

Recreating the first level in SMB could be great. (Look here for inspiration) Tiny Goombas would be cute to have around!

These traumatized kids will never be able to enjoy a game of Super Mario Bros. for their entire life.

If you were really awesome you'd make an angry sun chase them periodically.

lol

Better yet, scatter dead turtle bones around thier room and tell them that when they act bad, dead koopas will rise to lob thier remains at thier heads and kill them in thier sleep. :D

Start a mushroom farm in the closet, and get a recording that says, "The Princess is in another castle" everytime you open the door.

Oh man, some of these ideas are GREAT! I totally forgot about the angry sun, so I think that'll be up on the wall soon. Keep 'em coming~

How about giving a racoon costume so that they could pretend to turn into a statue?

Put an axe in the corner. If the kid touches it, it falls into a pit of lava. Educational.

I think it would be really cute if you can get this huge mushroom beanbag chair or gigantic plush.

Lady Miyomi Jun 3, 2006 09:49 PM

Don't forget the costume as an outfit! Can't have the room without the Princess Peach outfit!

You need to have a shiny, bright key propped up somewhere, and a machine that makes a scary half-red, half-white grinning mask fly around and chase them until they learn never to touch keys.

I think it would be delightfully ironic if they not only never enjoy a Mario game, but also grow up to be an anti-video game crusader.

eriol33 Jun 4, 2006 10:16 AM

Or they will turn into Mario Nazi in the future.

Mimi-kun Jun 5, 2006 10:24 AM

Actually, the 'shroom bean bag is a really good idea. My oldest daughter loves the one she's got now.

Does anyone have any good mario world art or know of a site that has any? We've got a friend that's a good artist so I'm going to see if I can get him to paint some stuff on the walls.

Luxo Jun 5, 2006 12:00 PM

You can give the decoration a nice communist touch:
