IGN relaunching their Dreamcast section!
This falls right under bittersweet nostalgia. I'm a Huge Dreamcast fan. Everything about it just clicked for me. I loved the way the large controler felt in my hands. Loved the VMU. Loved going online with it. etc. I think it's untimely end was a shame because it's amazing library was really churning out a lot of great things. Who knows what else we would have seen had those teams working under Sega stayed together...
Anyway, for no reason what so ever, IGN is relaunching their Dreamcast section. They're re-reviewing every game and seeing how each hold up. You should probebly check it out cause it's still thinking... |
What a waste of time. IGN needs to stop wasting their money on this.

Wait, the Dreamcast is only a couple of years of old, it's corpse is still warm. IGN have already covered it, going over it again in so short a time for purposes of re-evaluation is wasted exposure. Why don't they go over an older, less widely appreciated system, like the Saturn, covering new IGN ground at the same time?
|
IGN needs to spend more time redesigning their site to not look like shit. Also, maybe they could fix the damn code so that it will stop showing me ads even though I'm an Insider, logged in, and have them disabled in my preferences.
|
I actually missed out on the Dreamcast, so I'm actually looking forward to the relaunch of the Dreamcast section.
|
Huh...a good reason to go back and visit IGN. Looking forward to it. Dreamcast forever!

While Sega should have taken into consideration the piracy issue, pulling it was not the answer. I also find it quite funny how Milestone recently released Radilgy on the Dreamcast, and months later Radilgy on the PS2 and the PS2 one has a mass of slowdown and isn't even playable. |

Yeah but the Saturn has the awsome bit AND my original arguments going for it.

They might as well start a Gameboy Color section too. Because DC and GBC seem to have lasted about as long. GBC as was GB with some color thrown in, then along came GBA. And DC was Playstation with slightly better graphics(well slightly better than slightly better graphics), then along came PS2.

Dreamcast <3.
And saturn is not garbage, Nights <3 |
Oh Dreamcast, quite possibly the biggest flop in Australia ever. Including the likes of the Mega CD and 3DO. Lasted about six months on the market, with virtually no retailer support, no marketing, no online service, no sales. :tpg:
But it's nice to see Rush 2049 is one of the first games they chose to 'review'.. again. It's STILL the only version of the game worth playing. The GC, PS2 and Xbox versions in Midway Arcade Treasures 3 all suffer from broken loading, sound problems and crappy frame rate drops (the PS2 one especially). Stuff you, Midway. STUFF YOU FULL OF COTTON. |

"So is it any good?" (screen writing) *Four people discussing* "Online" *Four people laughing* "Four players" *Four people playing the Dreamcast* DREAMCAST Available (forgot the date) Australia's Sega division didn't even TRY to sell it here. What bastards. But to be on topic, I don't really think they need to revive the Dreamcast section. Just leave it in their "old console" section. |

DC & Saturn are both very near and dear to my hearts =( Both spell out extreme levels of nostalgia as well as gameplay that has yet to be rivalled.
Saturn: Radiant Silvergun NiGHTS Dragon Force 1 Dragon Force 2 Shining Force Books 1-3 (2 & 3 are in budding stages of translation. They tested it out on premium and it WORKS. They'll be translated for certain now) Panzer Dragoon Saga Riglord Saga 1 Riglord Saga 2 Guardian Heroes Alberty Odyssey Gaiden Baroke Burning Heroes Silhouette Mirage Policenauts (80% through English translation by US company and it was fucking DROPPED) MOAR 2 COME =d The DC had a number of classics. But the Saturn had TONS of games that really wow'd me. The DC's main poster childs of how it was so damn good lies in Shenmue 1, Shenmue 2 (Got PAL version & use boot disk), and Skies of Arcadia. There was a remake of Space Griffon VF-9 I never got to try that looked phenomenal on the graphics-scale. **sigh** |
There are some rumors floating around the net concerning the possibility that MSFT could obtain DC titles to be run on the 360 with the help of an emulator much like what is done for original Xbox games. All of this done of course through the Xbox Live Marketplace. :eyebrow:

Dreamcast >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> any other console except Mega Drive (Genesis for USA). |
Katamari & Shadow of the Colossus are the only games post-Dreamcast that I'd deem as classics or incredibly original.
Suikoden V was the first PS2 RPG to really wow me, to be honest. I'm not getting pickier. Quality has just gone down the shitter since Sega did. |

But yeah, I loved the DC. Perhaps my favourite console. Shame Sega hasn't been the same since they went 3rd party, with a few exceptions like Super Monkey Ball. But now they are whoring it out. :( |
Hell, I'm all for it. I love the Dreamcast. Pity its early death. :(
