Blood on the Asphalt - A Super Street Fighter 2 ReMix Collabration

http://sf2.ocremix.org/

Quote:

Blood on the Asphalt is a tribute album to the music of Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, its contents comprised of new arrangements of old, familiar songs from the original game soundtrack, created by various artists, unified along the lines of genre and tone. The arrangements contained herein have been designed to be evocative of dark, pseudo-romanticized urban imagery: abandoned playgrounds and crowded street markets; back-alley block parties and hole-in-the-wall bar dives, scenes that are, I hope, befitting of a tribute to one of the most iconic games in arcade history. So sit back and download. I hope you dig it, and if you do, drop us a line. We'd be happy to hear from you.

Great! Time to download this and listen to it instead of Tool. Thanks for the info Grawl.

Mucknuggle May 31, 2006 06:25 AM

The rap tracks are just horrible. Why did they ruin the songs like that?

Luphurix Jun 2, 2006 01:35 PM

If by dark, pseudo-romanticized urban imagery: abandoned playgrounds and crowded street markets; back-alley block parties and hole-in-the-wall bar dives they mean generic techno that 99% of amateur remixes sound like then okay.

Dhsu Jun 2, 2006 02:16 PM

Do you happen to have any examples of songs that meet your definition of non-generic techno? (Or regular amateur techno for that matter...most of these don't resemble any form of techno I'm familiar with.)

If you don't like it, that's fine...no need to be a smart aleck about it though.

Wow, another arrangement of SF remixes eh? I gotta dl this. Seems like my personal favs are the Guile and Ken remixes

eriol33 Jun 2, 2006 10:15 PM

Any arrangement of Dan's theme? Joshua morse's addictive arrangement has made me a big fan of his theme.

I know, seriously... those two tracks screwed up the whole "urban" mood they were going for.

Mucknuggle Jun 3, 2006 07:30 AM

I can't bring myself to listen through every track. The vocal pieces are just bad. I always stop at the first vocal ending track. Ugh. Terrible. What happened to the quality check on those vocal tracks?!

Dhsu Jun 3, 2006 11:18 AM

Are you being sarcastic?

Liontamer Jun 3, 2006 05:09 PM

Just another dumb rap-hater. Couldn't give a fuck what he says if he's biased from the outset.

How would you know whether I'm a rap hater or not? Seems like you're the only one here making biased accusations.

The vocals in the ending themes and the rap tracks are terrible.

Well...are you?

I enjoy good rap. A good portion of my music collection is made up of the stuff. The rap tracks on this compilation however are not good tracks.

Obviously, the musician that made the tracks and one of the people responsible for quality checking the compilation are not going to agree with me. There was no need for flaming though.

Dhsu Jun 4, 2006 11:40 PM

Your comments weren't exactly what most would consider constructive either. You could've provided suggestions instead of just bashing people, and told us why those tracks are don't qualify as good rap.

Mucknuggle Jun 5, 2006 02:32 AM

Look, this is not a forum to give you OCR guys constructive criticism. This is a forum to discuss our thoughts towards music. I have no obligation to tell you guys how to improve your stuff, nor should you expect that from everybody here. I posted my thoughts on the music and that's that. I've done nothing wrong. If you want some criticism on your work, look elsewhere (like the OCR forums).

Dhsu Jun 5, 2006 09:47 AM

Oh, so when other people insult you, it's "flaming," but when you insult other people, it's an "opinion"?

Mucknuggle Jun 5, 2006 05:40 PM

What are you even talking about? I said that the rap was bad. That is not an insult. Get off your high horse.

You attacked both the person who arranged the songs and the person in charge of quality control. Those are insults.

watkinzez Jun 6, 2006 08:34 PM

VAMOS DEEJAY

Ya guys seriously it sucked.

I'll say that, first, I haven't bothered to listen to any of this collection. I just thought I would state that I totally agree with the statement that we shouldn't be obliged to give CC here. OCR is there for a reason.

edit: I listened to a lot of the tracks and I think that the music is top-notch. The rapping? Not as as bad as Mucknuggle says, but I think it could use a little work.

Wow. You're REALLY stretching it. Those are not insults. Why are you dragging this on and on? Take your bitching to the OCR forums.

That Jose guy is the one that made those rap tracks on the compilation that I find terrible. The guy getting on my case FOR NO REASON is also an OCRemixer. Oh, and the dude that insulted me is an OCR judge. So basically the OCR Bandwagon decided to gang up on me because I said that I didn't like 4 tracks on this compilation.

Shaolin Samurai Jun 6, 2006 10:49 PM

The Fei Long remix is far and away my favorite track.
