Uses for a semi-broken Laptop?
Its pretty old...
-Microsoft XP Home Edition -Intel Celeron Processor -112mb ram(wtf) -1.10ghz -external battery -Dvd drive -spyware & adware prob virus + MOAR LCD screen is cracked that it looks like someone dropped the sauce near the center. That means I can't use it to make one of those gay slideshow picture frames. |
I don't know what I'd do with it. With a cracked lcd it seems too fragile to actually use on the go (how's the battery life on it?) Does the lcd screen even work?
In any case I'd probably restrict it to old games, dvd movies, and word processing. If the laptop doesn't work at all I think you're better off salvaging the ram, hdd, and dvd drive (if you know what to do with them.) Quote:

You should be able to hook it up to a TV/CRT/LCD screen if the on board LCD screen is broken and still use it.

Well, one question before this thread disappears into obscurity, is it possible to access the files of a laptop's hard-drive when it is broken? I have a laptop which does not work at all now and I've got some long-lost files in the hard-drive there. Suggestions?

If you can get the drive out, you should be able to get a USB caddy for it so you can use it as an exernal drive for a PC.
You might have some trouble (depending where the files are on the drive) if the drive is formatted with NTFS, though. |
