Clerks 2! ...they still don't like you.

Personally, I don't know about you, but I'm pretty stoked about seeing Clerks 2! Even more now that its been moved up from August 18th to July 21st!
I like the fact that they were on a budget restraint of 5 Millions, which forces them to squeeze the most out of it, visually and script-wise. Also, even if I like them sometimes, Jay and Silent Bob have as much screen time as the first movie, which worked great because they come in small dosage. I'd like to add that Jeff Anderson's delivery have improved 100% since the first movie, it's quite noticeable in the Cartoon as well as in the released footage down there. "Terrorists? ....Argh. I left the coffee pot on again, didn't I?". Such an awesome voice.

I've packed together all the trailers released in theatres and on the internet since they give the tome for the movie and also, they kick a lot of behinds.

1st Internet Trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHkdj...rch=Clerks%202

2nd Internet Trailer (My favorite!!):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeAgP...rch=Clerks%202

Theatrical Trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVsjx...rch=Clerks%202

Cannes Trailer:

Enjoy! ...or die. Slowly. Of aging. ...maybe not.

For some reason I havent even seen the first one yet, even though I have the DVD. So I need to catch up.

Was it me or was Silent Jay dabbling in a bit of Hardcore Dancing in that trailer?

SketchTheArtist May 28, 2006 01:18 PM

He's always dancing like crazy in front of stores or shops, just like in the first one.

I escpecially like the bit in the first Internet trailer where you see his silhouette and he's being shown dancing in slow-mo.

Jerrica May 28, 2006 01:21 PM

Wow, I can't wait to see this. I didn't even know it was coming out!

Thank you so much :D

SketchTheArtist May 28, 2006 01:27 PM

No problem!

Now, spread the word my brother/sister! And fly!! ...or walk, whatever you can do the best.

JazzFlight May 28, 2006 01:39 PM

Ack, I wish they had just continued the Animated Series.

I swear, it was the funniest thing Kevin Smith has ever been involved in.

Randal is the best character ever.

nabhan May 28, 2006 01:58 PM

Apparantly it got an 8 minute standing ovation at Cannes.

I haven't even seen the first one :(

Gechmir May 28, 2006 02:26 PM

The animated series was freaking awesome. But like The Critic, genius was stomped out ;___;

Lookin' forward to it =D

Wall Feces May 28, 2006 02:49 PM

The animated series had the potential to be a suitable Family Guy replacement. They just never gave it enough time to live up to its potential. Blasphemy!

Needless to say, I am pumped about this movie, and even more since I no longer will have to choose between this and Snakes on a Plane on August 18th.

chato May 28, 2006 02:52 PM

I like the teaser better. Can't wait to watch some more of Randall's bs XD.

Clerks couldve also been a tv series (real life characters) and be shown on hbo..

DarthSavior May 28, 2006 03:11 PM

Hahaha. The trailers were fantastic. All of em got me to laugh.

This movie is deemed worthy enough for me to plop down money for.

Soluzar May 28, 2006 03:20 PM

Clerks is actually not my favourite Kevin Smith movie at all. It's better than Jay & Silent Bob Strike back, but I find that the others are all preferable to me. The animated series was great, though. I'm just not so sure if I found the characters interesting enough to watch a sequel.

I love Kevin Smith's work, but I found the last one to be a bridge too far. I'm thinking it would be better for me if I just stopped watching his movies now, unless he comes up with something new that doesn't involve his pre-existing characters. I don't want to remember the franchise as a played-out, over-exploited cash-cow. Does anyone else feel that way?

Wall Feces May 28, 2006 03:50 PM

I kind of agree, but I say who cares as long as the movies are good. The only real flop (which I really liked) was Jersey Girl. All the others are fantastic in their own way, my personal fave being Chasing Amy.

You and me both. I always thought that the line "I finally had something personal to say" was meant to be appreciated on more than one level.

SketchTheArtist May 28, 2006 04:10 PM

Let's not forget that the Clerks Animated Feature is still on, guys. :-P

Wojo May 29, 2006 10:27 AM

I think this will be a significant come back from Jersey Girl. I think thats the most important thing Smithites are looking for.

Personally I am looking forward to this because I'm a fan of Clerks and the animated series. The only thing is waiting all the way untill August will kind of suck.

Star Man Aevum May 30, 2006 02:23 AM

July 21? That's the same day I'm seing Dave Matthews band over in Cheyenne.

Curses...

I have to say that I feel that Kevin Smith has.. sold out.. What the hell? He clearly said that Jay and Silent Bob Strike back was the end of the Saga..

I don't know.. 10 year after the fact that it happen they finally made a sequel to a movie that rock but was really about... nothing at all..

1- Smith 'sold out' when he received money when he sold CLERKS to Miramax.

2- CLERKS isn't about 'nothing', you missed the whole point, which wasn't that hard to find really. You're simply in for the dick 'n fart jokes.

Nice try though.

Furby May 31, 2006 12:54 AM

It was a movie about nothing in the sense that it's not some moving story about whatever...Sort of like MallRats was a movie about... Nothing. A day in the life of them.

The sold out comment was more based on the fact that Kevin Smith said "no more Jay and Silent Bob". The Jersey Saga was over but now he comes out with this? 10 years after the fact that Clerks came out.. what's next? Mall Rats 2, 20 years after.

He did say that Jay and Bob would never come back but Jason Mewes, his best friend and the one playing Jay had been fighting a terrible drug addiction, mainly heroïn. He was a mess, his teeths had fallen, etc. When he was on the verge of succeeding his therapy to quit, Kevin told him that if he would quit completely, he would make another Jay and Silent Bob movie. He was thinking about doing a Clerks 2 for sometime now, because he had something to say and Clerks was the best vehicle for it.

As for Mallrats 2, it'd be rather unlikely, but if it were to come true, if done right, I wouldn't mind.

He still has ideas for Mallrats 2: Die Hard in a Mall which if he ever did it would be a comic book!

I'm glad he hasn't closed the book completely on the View Askewniverse - at the time of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back he said he wanted to go out before the characters had outstayed their welcome... problem was I think they still have a lot of life left in them... heck, Clerks 2 confirms that Dante and Randal are still very relevent characters and have worthwhile stories to be told. Also he confirmed at Vulgarthon that the next few projects will be non Askewniverse stuff but he will definately revisiting his little universe again in the future :D

Silent Jay?

given that Kevin Smith's movies are among my favorites, I've been following the progress of this movie for two years, and it's the sequel to one of the movies that had a big impact on myself, I'm more than a little excited.

we've still got Clerks Sell-Out to look forward to. and Ranger Danger. but knowing Kevin, it'll be a while. something always comes up.
