Battlefield 2142

So I'll be the first one to admit that after a really poor technical experience with Battlefield 2, I wasn't looking forward to buying another EA game and watching them not address some of the biggest issues in it for months on end. I also wasn't expecting much of a leap in terms of graphics or gameplay judging from some of the prelim screenshots and such.

But this new gameplay video has me interested, if not exactly rearin' to buy it as soon as it comes out.

It seems that all the vehicles have all changed, and there is more of everything as far as feeling in the middle of a scaled-down battlefield. The first half of the trailer gets this out of the way, but the second half is where the real meat is. The amount of detail that has gone into the foundation for the battlefield games ahs been consistently high, and 2142 is no different. Everything feels as if it has a distinct purpose, and is there for a particular reason, and in many cases, it is. You don't just drive around in these new, improved APCs, for example. You use them to launch an assault on aerial bases and destroy them, squad objective style.

So, I'm not eager to buy the game as soon as it comes out, but some of these additions look like they'll contribute a lot to how the game is played. At this point I still feel like Quake Wars has the advantage, and goes to the Nth degree in terms of having dynamic gameplay.

I think I'm going to buy this game. I loved Battlefield 2 and I'm already in love with Battlefield 2142!

It looks like they're coming out with a new BF game too soon. I've only got BF2 for several months now, and I've -just- started weekly gaming sessions with the GFFers here. BF2142 sounds all well and good, but I'm still having loads of fun with BF2, despite the problems people talk about. There's no reason to get 2142 right away.

I'm still waiting for another BF2 expansion with urban maps to whet my appetite :D

I have to said that i'm a big fan of all sci-fi futuristic theme, and I did really enjoy BF2 but i'm far away to be an expert XD i'm just a casual player that play something for fun. So i just saw this new E3 trailer, and god now I really want it XD i'll probably will like 2142 more than 2 just for is "futur theme" XD ( I think i'll go play a little BF2 now XD)

Well I'm just hoping that there will be more objectives than Battlefield 2 for Conquest mode can get boring after a while.

That Titan mode sure got me fired up ^^

Yup it looks great, I am just afraid for the requirements. BF2 was a beast to run, but 2142 might require even more power. Hope my athlon 3500+, Ge-Force 7800GS, 2 gigs of ram can handle it.

HOly ****... Took a closer look at the most recent video and DAMN.

Camo stealth and spec ops... Emp Grenade to disable larger Mechs... This is what Planetside should have been :D

yup I just saw that too. It looks awsome.
