Replacement battery for KLIC-8000, can I use AA's?

I am thinking about buying this camera, but am wondering if I can put regular aa battery into this camera (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138085815434)
I am looking at this camer because I already brought 4 GB of sd memory cards and a case for a sd compatable camera.

I don't like such batteries because they can't be recharged when I am at the park or at the beach. I also have lots of regular NIMH batteries because they were cheap at walmart over this past winter.

If I don't buy the koday, then I will either buy (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16830120179) or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138085156631 or http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138084657346

But for the sony I don't have any memory cards for this camer, and they are expensive! I look at the panasonics and they also use such proprietary battery. The best feature for this Kodak or Cannon or Sony is the 12X zoom with image stabilazation. I looked at the camera at the store, but they won't let me open the battery compartment.

Please help!

It doesn't look like the Z612 can use AA batteries, just the lithium-ion block type.

Now, what exactly are you looking for in a camera? Of the four you have listed, they seem to range from a basic point and shoot to a decent professional model. The price, too, seems to vary from $230 to $499. With a price range you're willing to spend in, plus a little detail as to what you want in a camera, we can give a lot better advice.

Now, since you said you have 4GB worth of SD cards, then I would recommend this Kodak Z650. It has the same megapixel rating, 10x optical zoom, and no image stabilization. But, it can take both lithium-ion block and AA batteries, and uses SD cards all for a hundred dollars less than the Z612. It might be worth considering.

No, you cannot replace the batteries with AA batteries. The battery for that camera is 3.7 volts. Two AA batteries would only result in 2.4-3.0 volts (1.2 or 1.5 volts each).

thank you for info
then I won't look at the camera then. Down to the Canon or Sony, but I would need to find a use for the 4 GB of sd cards. Does anyone make a camera that uses aa batteries but also with a 12X zoom?

I am looking for image stabilzation with 12x zoom and something that also uses aa batteries, because they can be brought anywhere.

But doesn't it look like that the lithium battery socket can hold 2 aa batteries, what would happen if I put 2 aa batteries in?

I really wouldn't try it. It won't work as it should with insufficient voltage. I doubt it would damage the camera, but I certainly wouldn't try it. You might invalidate your warranty, and it's not worth the risk on a new camera.
