How does everyone feel about Cosby's stance on the African-American fixation on rap and the 'gangsta' culture? He once said something to the effect of "They should spend less money on $300 shoes and more on 'Hooked on Phonics.'" The great thing about him saying this is that if it was anyone else saying this, they'd be ridiculed. But Cosby? He can say it, and he's got the balls to do so.

I'm glad to see that someone in the African American community actually said it. I think the "Hooked on Phonics" line may have been a little rough, but seriously you don't need to spend $300 on shoes unless they can dance and sing (or turn lead into gold...that would be cool). I read parts of the speech that you are talking about and it was very interesting. It's May 17th here, so unfortunately I will have to celebrate a Belated Cosby Day.

I like the movie "Ghost Dad", especially this one part where his daughter's boyfriend asked if "the Bimbo was home" and Cosby went through the phone and started choking the guy. I think my dad would have done the same thing, but Cosby had the actual skills.

I just got done watching Bill Cosby, Himself yesterday. That's the only Bill Cosby I know.

Kick-ass. I hate how misogyny is so prevalent in the ghetto/gangsta scene. Cosby is to be commended indeed.
