Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors
I've been trying to scour the internet for information about this upcoming title. Seems they have little information aside from a small clip of it in an E3 trailer. I'm super excited about the DQ series coming back to Nintendo. I hope they don't change the formula up too much though. Dragon Quest has kind of always been special to me because it has always remained a traditional RPG. No matter how many RPGs stray from the formula, I can always count on DQ for nostalgia with its epic story, cartoonish characters, and traditional gameplay. I hope Dragon Quest Swords still holds the same old formula as the rest of the series. I wouldn't mind if they just kept the format of a traditional Dragon Quest game but made navigation and battle actions revolve around the new Wii control scheme. That would be a great game in my opinion. Anyone else have any ideas, thoughts, or comments on the upcoming title?

I sure hope they keep classic experience points, classes, weapons and armor. I hope it's every bit a DQ game still, but with the new gameplay.

Under normal circumstances, I would say swinging a controller around like a sword would be incredibly stupid, but for this game I would make the exception.
Brings back the old childhood memories of swinging at the screen when I attacked monsters in Dragon Quest III so very long ago. I have complete faith that this will be good. |
PLEASE tell me it will use the new camera system from DQ8 where you could see your characters. I would still get the game if not but thats a big plus for me if its in the game.

I'm most likely getting this game. The only reason is because I loved the Dragon Warrior/Quest games for the GBC/PS, so I'm hoping this will be as good, or..maybe even better. I really enjoy Dragon Quest, more than the FF series..so glad to know Square Enix is bringing back a good series.

But hey, that doesn't mean it'll be like one of those shitty "slash wildly at your TV" games you find in between the toy and game section at Toy R Us. It may be more like Oblivion, which the thought of excites me greatly. And with the series' big three (Hori, Toriyama, Sugiyama) on board, it probably means it won't be half-assed. Totally, at least. |
Yeah, it sounds a little gimmicky, but with the big three backing it up I just find it hard to believe it'll be totally half-assed. It could be good. I hope it will be anyway.
