See You In Hell!

This is simply a polling exercise (sans actual poll) in order to get a loose grasp of GFF's collective quasireligious ethical/moral belief structure.

No actual poll can be included because GFF's poll options are too rudimentary, and you'd all just check every single box because THAT'S SO WACKY (ACE COMBAT)

OH GOD, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO THEN

It's simple! I provide you a list of famous persons ("famous" is here defined as "having earned a Wikipedia article of at least 5 paragraphs") and you express what your moral and religious feeling indicate their fate in the afterlife should or will be. This need not agree with your personal feelings on the matter — certain Christians will assert that even a murderous asshole that they personally despise is heaven-bound (faith vs. works, etc). Possible fates include, of course, the heaven/hell dichotomy, possible purgatories, Valhalla, reincarnation as a toad, and exile to the moon — along with many other ideas that I won't bother to mention because I'm a closed-minded asshole!

Needless to say, if your feelings on the afterlife are boring or uninstructive (lol sheeple), you are disinvited from participating. Atheists who wish to express their opinions on who a theoretical heaven or hell would contain (or the behavior of a theoretical system of reincarnation, or whatever) are free to comment, however. All I ask is that you say something more interesting than "they all rot in the ground forever" and that you are not Cal (although this is a redundancy as Cal never says anything interesting).

For the sake of the discussion, Wikipedia's statements about the mortal lives of these persons are held to be accurate (even if you consider the article inaccurate, render your judgment of their fate according to the person the article describes).

The list:

Alexander of Macedonia

Christopher Columbus

Thomas Jonathan Jackson

Judas Iscariot

Leni Riefenstahl

Harry Truman

Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin

Virginia Woolf

Donatien Alphonse François

Nero Claudius Cæsar Augustus Germanicus

yeah, this is gonna go real well

Meh. The entire concept of Hell, and by association, Satan, is a tool constructed by early theocrats to control the masses with the dangling blade of "eternal damnation" for disobeying the prevalent theocracy.

Whereas Heaven, although oft misrepresented as a cloud-filled aerie of angels and Yanni music, is a more spiritually sound concept. As all things, living or not, came from God/Allah/Yahweh/The Alpha & Omega, so shall they eventually return. Eternally seperating the subjectively "undesirables" in some fiery pit is a pointless effort.

Everyone on the list went to Heaven.

I believe posts of the kind the two of you made were addressed in the first post thusly:

I see. This thread is not a place for dissenting opinions. Enjoy your groupthink.

If this thread is an attempt to accurately guage the views of the members of the forum, then what's the point of suppressing those opinions you find boring? If the thread creator had stated that the existance of heaven and hell were to be taken as a given for this excercise, or even that an afterlife of some variety was to be taken as a given, then that would be different. I could assume, for the basis of discussion, something which I do not believe to be true. He did not make that stipulation.

Not that I imagine that any of this matters to you.

Aren't you the one who hasn't had good sex, doesn't enjoy good sex, and thinks good sex doesn't exist?

You're an idiot.

Look, if this was a thread about elephants

And I asked everyone

"What is your favorite elephant"

and one guy said

"Indian Elephants"

and the next guy said

"African Elephants"

so far so good

and then you come along and say

"I LIKE TIGERS! GROWL! TIGERS GOOD! ELEPHANTS BAD!"

and styphon says "dude this is about elephants"

and you say "OH THIS IS 1984 I AM BEING OPPRESSED

Go get drunk or laid or run over by a train or something

or at least learn to read the opening post accurately!
