5.1 surround sound probs with winXP

Hi, I have a laptop that has an ALC880 realtek soundcard on it. It has 3 input/output ports that can be changed to whatever I want (headphones, mic, input, output). What makes it really cool is apparently I can set each one to be front speakers, rear speakers and centre/sub. When I set this up and plug in 3 sets of different speakers, I find that if I adjust the volume in the volume control, the correct speaker's volumes go up and down, BUT, the front and rear speakers play exactly the same sounds when I do a 5.1 surround sound test.

Does anyone know what's causing this to happen? If windows recognises it as rear speakers, why is it playing the front speaker's sounds?

How exactly are you testing this? Have you tried a movie DVD with a 5.1 sound track already?

Yeah I did.. Pirates of the Carribean had a 5.1 surround sound test.

Anyway, I ended up solving it by uninstalling an SRS WoW sound enhancer I had installed (it came packaged with the laptop but was messing around with the soundcard.. Odd that..)
