Elite Beat Agents (sequel to Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan)
I never played the first one, but I may have to now! This looks pretty awesome.

HELL.
YES. OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG This is the best way to handle a game like this. I played the hell out of the import, but I would have been bored if it was just simply ported. Having it become a whole new entity is incredible. Just a shame that the trailer is so short and we didn't get to hear any songs. I'm wondering if they'll keep the same kind of vocal intensity as the original. I mean, even I was shouting "Dai! sei! kou!" at the end of each song. |
Wow, unless they have a completely intolerable soundtrack, I will buy this without question.
The world needs more OSU! |
Interesting. I'm fine with the original, but I may pick it up depending on the humor and music selection.
What happened to Band Brothers? |
This is a sequel right? Everyone's response to the poster seems to indicate that this is a port for some reason. Either way, this game promises to be awesome.
Also, at the end of every song, they shout DAI SE GO! Meaning, big victory or something similar.. |

I never expected a sequel. Makes me glad I imported the original, even though I suck at it!
|
hmmmm... Not sure what to make of this. I welcome the western introduction of Ouendan but I'm not so fond of the localisation thus far. I'd rather have them keep the original characters and let the booklet or some intro in the menu explain the ouendan cultural phenomenon. Replacing ouendan for secret agents would make the backstory seem even less plausable. Why not replace them with cheerleaders instead and replace the cheerleaders from the original with Michael Jackson?
But then again, the one who decided to go this way got hired to make up localisation schemes like this and I am just some Dutch guy with a computer. |
Who cares about these men in black, as long as we get hot anime cheerleaders for the Insane difficulty level lololol.
I finished Ouendan not too long ago, and i LOVE IT! It's one of my fave games ever, and I'm very much looking forward to this Western take on it! |
I'm close to completing the original Ouendan with all S grades. I'm gonna clock the game soon!
The more Ouendan the better. |
Check it out guys. First song revieled. Seems to fit the Ouendan mood. I can already hear the beats and whistles going to it.
"Walkie Talkie Man" from Steriogram bananas |
You know, judging by that, I wouldn't be surprised if they used all the songs from the iPod ads hahah!
Jet - Are You Gonna Be My Girl Steriogram - Walkie Talkie Man Caesars - Jerk It Out U2 - Vertigo Eminem - Lose Yourself.....LOL! I honestly don't care what the music lineup is. This game is already on my Most Wanted list. |
That song is great, it has a similar feeling to a lot of Ouendan's music. Since a lot of the J-Rock that was used is heavily influenced by western pop and rock music, I think it should be easy to find a soundtrack that fits well with the spirit. I'm kinda hoping for something along the lines of Kokoro Odoru though, it's one of my favorite songs from the first game and it has a style that you don't hear much over here (kind of a hip-hop/latin fusion).
|
Yep, this is looking like quite the game to pick up, if only for that guy's huuuge pompadour. That's insane.
|
Asian Kung-Fu Generation (the first stage, Studying), Orange Range (Policemen vs Robot invasion), L~arc-en-ciel (Meteor!) and Morning Musume (Office lady) were the biggest contemporary J-pop acts that I recgonised.
And Linda Yamamoto (Cleopatra) was the only older song that I recgonised. And I'm sure all the other featured artists/songs were/are popular too. If the song selection in Ouendan is any indication, Elite Beat Agents will have some hugely popular pop rock songs in it, which is nothing except AWESOME =D |
Man, I never played the original, but this game looks too good to pass up. I'll definitely be getting it when it comes out.
|
the 'blues bros-esq' characters look really good, in my opinion. If there were any brittany dancers in this game i would cry for a thousand years. This looks great! hopefully as funny as ouendan.
for your interest: ouendan.be website with international rankings, etc |
Oh my god it's a manga version of PETER JACKSON.
I've read alot on this so-called "sequel" to Ouendan. I don't like the characters but essentially the gameplay is still there. And Walkie Talkie Man is a great song. Steriogram is a band from New Zealand and I've seen them live in concert, they're also pretty good live as well. If there's a bunch of angst/emo songs on this, such as Green Day and My Chemical Romance, forget it. |
The new characters are awesome! Awesome! That hairdo!
I love this manga guy, seriously. Did he do any anime shows? Hope they put on some Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys! Man, I am like so excited about this freakin' game. It's the best. |

Seriously though, they're quite similar to the pop-rock that was in the original game, and if Walkie Talkie Man is any indication, that's the direction they're going for this game as well. I don't see what's so weird about it, really. Maybe you're just a trolling moron, though, who knows. |
Franz Ferdinand I don't mind as much as I do the Artic Monkeys, but I think there are better song choices that can be made.

Regardless of our difference in opinion of what constitutes good music, I'd still get it if it's full of (what I would consider) rubbish music. I bloody hate Orange Range and nobodyknows+ (on account of their being absolutely worthless), but I still got Osu, and enjoyed the levels with their music in almost as much as the ones with good songs. |
Shandghai Honey was a great song.... Too bad the sequence in the game didn't use any part of one of their show, with hundreds of asian babes in bikini..... whooooo......
And is it really a sequel? I heard it was just another game in the series since it's not related, except for the concept. |

I think they're marketing it as an Western-aimed version of the game, though. But that would still fall under my definition of a sequel, since it has (presumably) completely new material. |
