F.E.A.R. Extraction Point

May 5, 2006 - Verifying that creepy corridors and intense firefights don't really get old, Vivendi Games today announced F.E.A.R. Extraction Point, an expansion to last year's acclaimed first-person shooter. Developer TimeGate Studios is working with original F.E.A.R. creator Monolith Productions to build the expansion, which will feature new locations, weapons, and enemies to keep the close-quarters combat fresh.

Extraction Point begins where the original game ended. Alma is now free, and the F.E.A.R. team must fight her and her nasty minions across a decimated city. The game's creators promise "new levels of action and suspense" as the decidedly creepy storyline continues.

The expansion isn't the only fresh dose of F.E.A.R. planned: Monolith has announced it is creating its own full-length follow-ups to the first game, albeit under a different title.

F.E.A.R. Extraction Point is currently scheduled for release this fall. Vivendi plans to showcase the game at E3 next week, and you can bet we'll be there to bring you more.
I'm glad such a stellar game is getting the expansion treatment.
Hopefully this will wrap up the Alma storyline though, I'd hate to see a slew of F.E.A.R games all about Alma run amok.

With luck there will be more than 3 enemy types for 90% of the game. Fighting those idiot soldiers 3209834209 times got a bit annoying.

I cannot recall these soldiers being idiots when they wooped my ass 59542627 times.:p

They could put in some more of those robot thingies. Those were great to do close quarters combat with.

I'm looking forward to this. I've been interested in what happens after that ending. I also hope there's some more enemies, because fighting the same enemy over and over again does get a little stale.

I'm glad this expansion actually has FEAR in the name. I heard that the sequels would not, which would be pretty confusing.

Can't wait til the expansion. FEAR was a great game, with awesome AI.

Those soldiers that would phase in and out could be quite difficult/annoying at times. Definatelly can't wait for this though.

I hope I don't have to redownload the first game to play it.

... and they really should have made it a single game, cliffhangers are gay. >_<

Stealth May 10, 2006 08:46 PM

And have it delayed it for a year?

Fuck that.

Also, it's an expansion, so yes, you'll need the original.

GOD did I hate those fuckers. I wasted so much ammo untill I got the hang of killing them off. The fact they were so fast and were impossible to see most of the time made it annoying for to kill after awile, not difficult.

Only thing I enjoyed about them was blowing them to bits with a shotgun in thier face.

The_Griffin May 11, 2006 12:20 AM

Heh... it was easy to kill those guys. Wait for a distortion, hit slow-mo, then unload the shotfun into their face. =D

I always liked shooting them just as soon as they said "Enemy Spo-" PEAAAUU! CHIK-CHUK

bolololol

Oh, and IGN has pics and a gameplay video up. It'd seem Alma's as whacky as ever.
