CRY FOR THE MOOOOOOON
So, apparently Japan acquired the '90s X-Men animated series years ago. While I don't have the dubbed over episodes, I stumbled across these videos of the openings for the series.
...Just see for yourself. Opening 1 Opening 2 I'm also requesting the song for the first opening. That's just foo funny not to have in your Awesomely Bad collection. |
I've seen that first one before, but not the second one. They're both pretty funny stuff, though.
These videos prove that even though it seems like the Japanese purposely try to make everything worse, they wind up making it better (because of how laughingly bad it is). |
Way to change the opening......
Gee....whatever happened to the classic "clash" at the end of the intro? And of course, we now have anime angst in the intro..... AHHHHHHH |
The depiction of X-Men fighting mutant monster hirelings completely changes the entire story line.
-I'm not impressed. |
What are you guys talking about? Those kicked ass!
|
They may have kicked ass--but it takes away from the whole X-Men concept.
|
The song used in the second intro made me feel like I was watching a Gundam-type show.
|
Those looked kinda neat, in a way.
I do not have sound right now, but I definitely agree that having them mostly fighting with some weird creatures instead of sentinels and each other seems to diverge from the overall plot of X-Men. Also, didn't Jubilee always suck? Since when could she throw balls of lightning? Teehee, Rogue winked at me. ^_^ |
Isn't there, like, some sort of universial rule of anime that most of the time the opening has NOTHING to do with the main feature in question?
Yeah, it's practicly Sod's law. |

Basically lightning. |
I heard she got depowered in the comic books, so she's just some ordinary teenager now.
As if that changed her role at all. |
Yeah, she was always the Armada Kid in X-men, wasn't she?
|
She was still hot in her big pink sunglasses and short-shorts. Gotta love that yellow jacket, too. Goddamn was that hot.
|
I wasn't too impressed with either of these, nor did I find them "laughably bad".
At least until the end of the 2nd video. EXXCCKKKKKSSSSSSS :tpg: |
SHOCK! BREAK OUT! Yeah, quite the difference compared to what most of us used to religiously watch each Saturday morning. The first wasn't that bad, but not that great either. The 2nd was SOOOO not X-Men, Wolverine and the gang standing there trying to look cool.
|
The first one wasn't so bad...but it's a bit over the top. Not something you'd want to have to see every single time a new episode comes on.
And the second one sucked. |
