fire.xellium.net/forums
I know that there was a recent change to the web address of fire.xellium.net/forums (The other address to GFF) and due to that recent change, I can't browse the forums in select locations anymore. THis is due to the fact that some places that I visit regularly monitor thier internet connections and some block (Yes they block) the gamingforce address just due to the title.
I used to browse fire.xellium.net/forums when I usually have some free time at school but recently I was able to get to the first page and then it happened to be that When I tried to click on a forum or log in, it would take me to the Gamingforce address. This prompted an instantaneous block by my schools block software (This is because it has the word Game in the title). Now I can feel that alot of people are telling me that I shouldn't be browsing GFF while at school (Grant it is when I have my work done and I never go into the sewers or chocojournals at school *Glares evilly at Spatula*) but I know of a few other reasons on why to do this. What if for some odd reason, that the Gamingforce name doesn't register with the IP Address needed? When we type in Fire.xelium.net/forums, we can get to the title page but then when we try to log on, we find that the name can not be resolved. There probably are a few other reasons why too. My point? It's simple. Instigate the fire.xellium.net/forums name again and make it so that when we browse with that address, it stays that address. I think that this could help out some of us geeks at school when we get done early. |
Use this instead:
http://208.100.1.93/forums/ :) edit: Hmm... Nevermind actually. While that would take you to the forums homepage, the links do still point to http://www.gamingforce.com which wouldn't work for you. <-- Dumb. |
Try using http://vtunnel.com to access the site

This is due to the SEO system GFF has installed. I am working on a fix. :)

Any hope of getting this fixed? I browse at work all the time, and it's frustrating to be able to browse fire.xelium.net, but being unable to post because almost all the links lead to gamingforce.com.
My agency uses Websense, and for the time being, fire.xelium.net isn't blocked. None of the proxy sites will work for me either, since all those are filtered. My only option would be for the links to be fixed. Also, mods, could we get a title change to something more descriptive that might get bobo's attention? |

I'd like to see this come back, as well, by the way. |

Yeah, but he did so on April 28, which is quite a long time ago.

There is a work-around for that issue. I used to do it all the time. You go to http://fire.xelium.net/forums still, but just hover your mouse over the links and type in the URL manually after the http://fire.xelium.net/forums. It's cumbersome, but it works.
|
Yeah, but you wouldn't be able to post still. You'd just be able to browse. Correct me if I'm wrong.

It's probably pretty easy to write a greasemonkey script that would keep replacing gamingforce.com/* with fire.xelium.net/* in every page you load.
[edit] Oh wait, you probably wouldn't be able to use it at work / school though ;_; unless portable firefox would work? I dunno :( |
