I kind of thought it deserved its own thread also. But then again--here's not much to discuss, since the whole world already agrees that it's a hilarious name.

Revolution was a much better name for it than some silly Wii. I suppose it could be worse. Imagine Nintendo Xtreme or somesuch.

I like how Nintendo has a good idea and then is like "let's add a nice pile of SHIT to it. That'll help it sell."

I easily see "Wii" growing on us. It's a silly name, indeed, and it's sillyness is going to get it mad pub. I laughed too. I think it's great.

It's an alright name. Revolution, while being somewhat appropriate, sounded almost as faceless and bland as Xbox (XXeksXX).

There are plenty of words that people take seriously, despite them souding ridiculous.
Penis, for example. Men take nothing more seriously than that ridiculous word.

I think if we can say the pronoun "we" without laughing like five year olds, we should be able to say Wii without laughing like five year olds.

I mean, so far: PlayStation, GameCube, X-Box, DualScreen/DeveloperSystem, Entertainment System, 64... It really has been all very bland. Jaguar was hot name, but that already implies a theme of sorts. With Wii, Nintendo's options are boundless.
