Anime Conventions 2006
 

Revival of a thread I made last year, but a bit late this time :P

(If there are any spelling or timings you notice are wrong, feel free to PM me and I’ll fix them)

Well, I was just wondering what cons everyone is planning to attend this year.

If everyone gave me a website of the convention you plan on going this year, and the convention name itself, where it's taking place at, and the dates, I could make a list in this thread, so if anyone wants to meet a forum member at a con, they could check this list to see who's going to the same convention as them.

Anyways, I'll only be attending one con this year, Anime North. I booked the hotel for all three days. I won't be there the last day though since I plan to use that day to have fun at the Ontario Place, but I'll be back for the closing ceremony. This year should be awesome though, more events and awesome guests!

As usuall I'll be going to Animazement. (May 26-28~ Sheraton Imperial Hotel and convention center~ Durham, NC)

A group of "friends" (actually only three are my friends) are pooling money together to split about three rooms. It's an ok con. It's the only one I can get too conviently enough. There's plenty of shopping, cosplaying, and video game playing to have a really good time. This will be my third year participating and I hope they get more dealers like they had my first year. It was ok last year but there were no soundtrack vendors :( I look foreward to it and I hope I can scrounge a costume together before the end of the month.

I know this is a random, but I see you've maintained the same avatar before the crash, that's the only way I recognize you now lol.

Ill be going

I'll be going to Anime-Expo (Anaheim Convention Center, July 1st-4th) and Otakon (Baltimore Convention Centert, August 4th-6th).

I'm going with my brother to anime-expo and may meet up with a friend or two who are thinking of going. Otakon i'll be going myself and will probably have to crash with a bunch of random strangers again :( Last year I think there was about 10 people in my room, sleeping on the floor with no blankets and pillows is not fun. it'll probably be the same deal this year, since AX and Otakon are so close together I won't have exactly a lot of money, that and hotels have been fully booked for months now. Cons after those may be an option but I haven't thought that far ahead yet.

Wasn't there another Cdn animecon somewhere in the time vicinity of AN? I don't know if it was CNAnime or something else, but was anyone planning on going to that one too? I think AN will be enough of a drain for me.

lol, AN will probably render you completely poor. I think it was either CNAnime or Con no Baka that you're thinking of. CNAnime is coupled along with some other conventions going on at the same time, and Con no Baka is sometime near wintertime at the same hotel.

I know that it's done already, but I attended Kawaii-Kon at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, HI from April 14-16. I got my picture taken with the lovely Yoko Ishida <3.

Ya, it's ok to post ones you've already been to, gives other people a chance to see Cons in their surrounding area that they might have missed.

I'll forgive you if you post up that picture :D.

I plan on getting a picture with Kotoko at AnimeNorth this year, I'll probably post that up too lol.

I'm going to AWA-Con 12 this year in Atlanta, GA at the Cobb Gallieria Center and the Renaissance Waverly Hotel. Its gonna be a while though, Sept 22-24(Fri-Sun). more info can be found at www.awa-con.com

Probably going to Anime Boston hopefully. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I'll probably be going to the small anime expo at Grand Valley university, called JFAX. Though it is relatively small, it still has a lot of interesting and quality things going on. In fact, I got hooked on Juuni Kokki thanks to that convention.

Otherwise, I don't plan on attending anything, due to matters of location, unless there are any in east Michigan I am not aware of.

I believe it will be running some time in June.

Tsubasacon 2006. It began in 2004 and I've been to both cons. Finally, an anime con in West Virginia. :D

Mechacon is back in Lafayette this year. I'll almost definitely be attending this convention, since it's the closest to me and I know about it from attending last year.

might go the AX... but it's like a week before my wedding anniversary and I should really be setting aside all of my money for that. But I might just head up the street to the area to snap photos of the cosplayers (I do love living a block away from ACC)... at least it would give me something to do that weekend... ^_^

Might as well put me down for MechaCon. While I don't care much for anime anymore, I'll more than likely be SimDaddyGT's ride and might stick around for a bit.

It's a pretty sad anime fest in comparison to others, but I mind as well put a mention to Otafest, held on May 21 to 22, which I'll probably go both days, just to get my admission price's worth. It's at the U of C in Calgary. >_>

EDIT: After looking at what they're screening, it's pretty pathetic, so I'll probably just stick to the merchandise area. Seriously.

More of an Expo-related tidbit than anything, but AX2006's board has mention of people trying to get them to have a screening of the Death Note movie.

It is more than likely that I will be attending AnimeExpo with the three fruits who went last year and I think met you GFF folks who went last year.

So yeah should be fun right?

I'll be headed to Fanime in San Jose with Devo and her boyfriend, Ed. I'm not sure if yui re-registered, but she'll be headed down too. Same with TheFrenchLlama.

Unless you're a single and reasonably attractive girl, I'm not interested in meeting up with you there.

I'll be going to Fanime-Con this year, and hopefully AX.

The location of Fanime is the San Jose McEnery Convention Center and it's held from May 26-29 (Memorial Day weekend).
