Trinity Blood

I really haven't heard that many people take notice of this series I recently acquired it and wondered if their was a Manga of it. It really ends on a note of unfinished business. Any-who any comments or what not would be appreciated.

Its at 5 volumes right now and more to come, its based off of a book, whichs name escapes me at the moment. and it was recently liceneded by viz, and the scan group dropped it.

Sanguis Deus Apr 25, 2006 02:00 PM

Is it realesed in the states? or should I look for online fangroups?

Arkhangelsk Apr 25, 2006 02:19 PM

It's going to be released in the States for sure, but probably not until late 2006. I have the first four volumes in japanese, but they still don't cover half of what they should. Not only that, but the artist they got for the manga has a strong shoujo style that really doesn't fit the series, and occasionally makes characters look like fish-people >_o.

At least in the manga Abel is more properly a badass... he really didn't get the right treatment in the anime. Since the anime is licensed it'll be coming over here on Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, but still. They need to license/translate the original novel series to do it any justice. The anime had too many boring episodes that did little to push the plot forward, and needs at least a second season, if not a total re-write.

Stupid Gonzo. They always screw over the vampire anime.

LOL I have watched the anime (1-24), I was looking more for the manga. I assume you where talking about the anime with the shoujo artist. Yeah at times in that series Ablel is SUPER HAPPY SMILEY COMMIN LEIK WAT. . . . and the whole premiss has a serious tone to it so you would think it would be stylized like the background imagery classical but expansive.

I stopped watching this after the Neverland episode...it was a lot slower than I was led to believe. I don't even notice any more releases of it as well.

No, I'm talking about the manga. It's very, very shoujo-style compared to the anime even, and especially compared to the original novel illustrations (which are numerous and wonderfully executed by Thores Shibamoto). An example of the manga illustrations:

But that's not to say that the manga art sucks. No, it's well-drawn, and I think that the execution of Abel's Kresnick scenes are awesome:

...but it's still just not really fitting with the overall feel of the story.

I think you would really like The Trinity Blood Community. It was started a few years ago before there was any info on TB in English, and I was one of the original members who got into it because of GFF (and actually, a TB thread was the whole reason I joined GFF). It's grown *a ton* since then, what with the release of the anime and all, and I'm sure they have scans on there as well.

If memory serves, that's close to being the last episode of fillers before diving right into the main storyline! :(

One problem, per se, with Trinity Blood is that the author is dead, which, as a result, leaves plenty of unfinished and unresolved conflicts.

Arkhangelsk May 11, 2006 10:48 PM

But the thing is, the Trinity Blood novels were published in two different storylines simultaneously: the Rage Against the Moons and the Reborn on the Mars. The one that covered the main storyline (ROM) has been finished, but the second set (RAM) that delves into shorter storylines dealing with events before RAM was left unfinished with Sunao Yoshida's death. There is still room for the series to continue -- which it is, in Sneaker, with a different author.

The anime didn't even get close to covering half of what the novels have in them, and from what I can tell, the 'filler' eps were actually events either from RAM or ROM (they blended the two book series in the anime).

All I've seen of TB were the first 6 eps of the anime...it made me sad that I never had the opportunity to read the manga first, since that's how i get into my series obsessions. Anyways, Abel is awesome when he goes all Kresnik and even more when he's not.

eriol33 Jun 19, 2006 10:22 AM

Actually I'm interested on reading this manga since it has been licensed in my country. But well, I restrain myself to do so since I heard the original author passed out. I'm afraid somehow the manga will stuck forever. =(

Well let me know if you want me to scanlate the manga. I guess I could help. ;)

Arkhangelsk Jun 19, 2006 01:54 PM

Be With You scans has scanlated some of it, as has Storm in Heaven (joint with Eien). I'm pretty sure it's been randomly scanlated at least to volume two. However, it's licensed by TokyoPop, and they already have the description and volumes up on their website. The first voulme is due out on November 11th, and it appears they've kept the original cover art (mostly) intact.

And eriol, you don't have to worry about the manga not getting finished. Just like the novels, there *is* an ending. I'm not clear on how it worked out in the novels, but one of the stories was left unfinished, or some parts of the story were left unfinished -- and Kentaro Yasui, who was Yoshida's editor, is continuing the story.

TP has hinted it may publish the novels (on their forum)!!!! This would do great justice for the series, and would make me very happy.

I've read the first manga and seen the whole series (whichis sad causes its like the ultimate cliff hanger, no real ending). I love the series and I'm just surprised it has gotten much credit for its worth. The arts good, the plots understandable and the characters are ok I guess. (The only ones you really know about are Ion, Ester and Abel:sorta:)

But what makes me mad is that Tokyo Pop is taking its sweet little time on delievering the TB manga...Its been some time now and the Novel and V.2 of the manga are suppost to be out now. So other than that it's a great series....if not a little short.
