nVidia cards won't do 24-bit color?

While reading reviews for some LCD monitors, I came across someone saying something to the effect of "nVidia cards won't do 24-bit color so image quality might suffer on higher end LCDs." I'm thinking he's talking about LCDs that display truly 24-bit color, and not 18-bit or 18-bit with dithering.

I've been researching this for about a day now and I can't really come up with anything concrete. I took a look at my color depth in WinXP and I see that I only have 2 options: 16-bit and 32-bit.

For those who understand bit depth, is my card doing 16-bit color with alpha transparency? Or is it truly 24-bit with alpha (24-bit)?

32bit is 24bit + alpha.

As long as your video card can pull 32bit color, you'll have the full 24bit RGB rainbow at your disposal. I've only seen 24bit color modes on my OLD PC which couldn't do 32bit.
